Default Confidence in new motor under warranty?

How confident should I be to pick up 05 coupe form Chevy dealer after they install new motor under warranty? I will have a 600 mile drive in front of me. The car only has 7700 miles on it.

Well, keep your ears open and make sure that you follow in the break-in procedure again.

You should have more confidence than when you bought the car with 7700 miles on it and it turned out bad. At least you know with the new motor that you are the first one really driving it.

Have a safe trip.

Should be fine, but I would take a pretty good cruise before I head out for the 600 mile trip, just to make sure everything is okay.

The real question is:
Do you have confidence in the mechanic that did the work? Have you talked with him and asked him a few questions as to his experience, and why perhaps the old engine failed? If he's been doing this kind of work for a long time, I think that you are good to go.............

Thanks guys. Well it is a Chevy dealer in Mo that claims they have some of the best techs in the country? As far as cause, I'm almost certain it had to be related to crankshaft bolt/washer TSB.

I had a motor replaced in a Chevy truck under warranty. The motor was fine, it was the wrenching on the install that was suspect. Transmission cooler lines left loose, one side exhaust manifold loose, and the radiator wasn't filled properly. I would try to put few hours on the car and double check everything..Good luck..

Make sure you have the dealer business card. With a cell phone and a credit card you can conquer the world - so I wouldn't worry about it.

What is the new warranty? And who is authorized to address any repairs under the new warranty? If it's GM covered then you should be fine.

The new motor was warrantied under seller. The dealer says I will get the component letter for the new motor.

The new GM motor should be fine. It's the installation that you have to worry about. Hopefully they are as good as they say they are.

What about new motor break in? Should I follow any procedure? Did they put synthetic in it?

Well I got my car back from Chevy dealer in Mo today. Motor sounds and performs perfect! Looks and feels like it was really done right. So a little sigh of relief here...
