Met a Cobra on a trip with my C6 today...(lots of pictures)
Today was just gorgeous, and I had to drive my wife to the town of North Conway have some root canal work done.
I anticipated a long, boring afternoon spent reading magazines in the waiting room. Instead, I pull into the parking lot and the Doc's husband comes over to me and says, "Nice C6!" Wow...obviously a car guy if he knows what a C6 is.
We start talking and soon he takes me into his garage to show me his ERA replica Cobra. Soon, it's out next to my C6, and soon after that we're tooling around the Conway area in this neat little machine. This car is a total blast...primitive, beautiful, and powerful with a classic exhaust rumble.
I didn't drive the car, nor did I ask to, but just being driven around in this Cobra was a wonderful way to spend the afternoon.
After leaving, we drove up to the Mount Washington Hotel.
This is one of the few remaining "grand hotels" in the state.
From the hotel, you have a perfect view of Mt. Washington and the Mt. Washington Observatory. In the picture, you can also see the coal powered Cog Railway locomotive nearing the summit.
After that, it was time to head home.
To say this day turned out much better than I expected would be an understatement!

Great pics, Stan. I can't tell, tho, is that a 289 or 427 ERA? The grill, back exhaust and hood make it look like a small block (could be intermediate like 351 Cleveland, too, or crate engines of varying cubes). No matter what, those are good cars to ride around in.

Awesome tale Stan. Glad you were able to make the most of the day you had planned. What a great experience it must have been. I just love the Mt. Washington Hotel, such a grand beautiful place. Thanks for sharing the story and the pictures.

Great Pics Stan.
I will soon be taking a group of 9 vettes up to N. Conway for a leaf peeping weekend.
Any suggestions for a nice place for some pics? I had thought of either the Mt. Washington Hotel, on the lawn if I can get permission or in front of any ski area. I skiied Bretton woods last year with one of the convention mgrs for the Mt Wash.

Great pictures! I was on that Cog Railway 16 years ago.
Nice vert and nice Cobra...funny how cars make friends.
My wife still talks about the soot from the exhaust, but my 2 boys and I had a blast. Another week or two and there will probably be a little snow on top of that mountain!

Also, a drive along the Kancamaugus is a really great drive. Beautiful scenery and a nice winding road. All you need is some cooperative weather.

Although the car was originally purchased with a 289 engine, it now actually has a 302 in it. Suspension is dual coilovers in the rear, and single coilovers up front.
And yes, Sandy's root canal went well. She had it done over a month ago and still was experiencing severe pain. They had to open the tooth up again and found a tiny root that was missed in the first oral surgery. At least now she's pain free. Thanks to all who asked...she really does appreciate this.

Looks like a fun day - thanks for sharing the pics.
That's my next purchase - well, a Factory Five version anyway. Hopefully the prices on Cobras stay just as depressed as Vettes until next summer.
