Default Now I Remember Why I Hate Chevrolet Dealers

This is why I hate Chevrolet dealers. I made an appointment over a week ago to bring the C6 in for two minor repairs before the warranty runs out. I assumed I would just wait for the car, but no the service adviser said this would take too long. So I call back after 5, they close at 6, to find they haven't even looked at the car. He says it was Monday. They had 60 cars brought in today. Fine, so what is the point in making an appointment? Did they tell all 60 people to bring their cars in on the same day? If the other 59 or so just showed up, shouldn't those that planned ahead be at the front. I cringe at leaving the car with these idiots overnight. I should have just fixed it myself.

That sucks and is

Not every chevy dealership is like that I've got 2 (One very large forum dealer) and another close by that are great.

It's not Chevy, it's the dealer! I've got a Ford truck and have had the same thing happen there...

Not sure all Chevy dealers operate that way but the one you deal with are really lacking in time management and customer service, can not blame you for being upset, no excuse for how they handled your appointment for service.

I made an appointment for an alignment on my C6 by appearing face to face at the place of business. Showed up two days later at the agreed hour and was told that there was no appointment. They found the paperwork but it never made it to the schedule pad.

Sometimes the ball gets dropped. It happens everywhere.

That's not much. I'd have to take my shoes off to count all the reasons I hate having to go to GM for service.

Typical overbooking on purpose... Reminds me of that Seinfeld episode/commercial where Jerry is trying to pickup a rental car he "reserved" and the clerk tells him that they don't have any more cars. Jerry tells her that they need to learn how to "keep" the reservations instead of just taking them, or words to that affect. The airlines do the same thing by overselling flights thinking they will have a percentage of know shows and their flights will always be full. They could care less if all the passengers show up only to find the flight is full and they are bumped.

That sucks. True that not all Chevrolet dealers are that way. I have not had any issues with my local Chevy dealer.

Hey Dan -

Do you go to Rydell in Northridge? If not, where do you take your Vette in the valley?

Sounds like you had a service writer who gave you unrealistic expectations, who also didn't know his shop's workload and what was coming in that day.

And for everyone else, you should never wait for anything at the dealer except for quick service (oil change, minor trim items in stock, etc).

Unless I know it's a quick repair, I won't let anyone wait for their cars.

I had a lousy experience with a local dealership. Don't let them wash your car!
