I'd leave the area if I was able to. Good luck and stay safe.

I share your concern but not your plan. Check out http://www.nhc.noaa.gov and keep an ear out on the weather channel. Best to you & let us know.

Good Luck
I'm still recovering from hurricane Gustav after it slashed it's way thru Louisiana pouring an estimeted 15+ inches of rain in my city alone. It started Labor Day around 6 p.m. with power outages, downed trees and flooding in the southern part of the state. I ran on a generator with gas lines of 100 or more cars at every station in town trying to get that precious fuel before the pumps ran dry. I was in good shape until Wed. morning when I awoke to flood waters only inches from my house and vette. I saved my computers and all my other electronics along with important papers. I had time to put some of my furniture on blocks before the first water came in. I barely had time to catch my breath when my wife noticed my vette was crying for help by flashing the head lights and gauges. I waded thru flood popped the hood and disconnected the battery but alas the damage was done. The flood waters receded after about 30 minutes but they had taken their toll by ruining all my hard wood floors and interior walls which had to be cut about 5 inches up to prevent mold. My vette was loaded on a flat bed
and dropped off at my local dealer so I'm just waiting to see how bad it is. I could be in the market for another vette soon but my house comes first so I'll be busy for a while repairing flood damage. As a retired firefighter it seems a little ironic that the very thing I used to combat fire out of control can be just as devasting when it's uncontrolled. Thanks for listening guys

I'm in eastern NC, and we just had Hannah come thru on Sat...she was only a tropical storm, but the eye came up I95 which is about 5 miles from my house...Locally, we had mostly a rain event with only minor flooding...Head for higher ground...Keep safe...Good luck.

Houston has seen plenty of hurricanes approach during the last 2-3 years.

Dont let the media get you into a panic...odds are you'll get a little rain, if that.

I have plans on going racing Sat. as long as rain doesn't close the track down.

Thanks for all the info, advice, and offers guys. I'm stuck to the TV for now and hoping that this storm stay down south of here. I'm not wishing any bad luck on anyone else, but I really don't need this problem in my life right now. I'll keep you posted.

This might be an idea for you. If you know of a parking garage that is in the down town area or even north area, take it there and park it in the back where it will get the most cover. I am here in Austin and the media is having a field day with this. But as they say " Prepare for the worst and hope for the best"!! Best of luck and God-Speed!!

Good luck and stay safe. My daughter is packing up and leaving McAllen Thursday. This one looks like it could get pretty bad.

From the current path, you should be OK in Houston. Looks like south of you (around Victoria) will take the direct hit. Maybe everyone will get lucky and it won't strengthen as much as they think.
