Default Anyone had Service bulletin 08-08-67-013A Performed?

This is the newest bulletin out for the roof popping noise and before I let the dealer do it I wanted to find out if anyone has had it done and if it was successful. Thanks.

You will want to check with your dealer first to see if they have the parts available. From what I hear, the new latches can be a few weeks away once the dealer orders them.

I have not had the new latches installed because the e-clip repair from mrtoner has been working for almost 10,000 miles now...

Default Fix that really works for the popping top

It has been my experience that the ONLY fix is to get the new handles. PN 19206537 and 19206592 from GM. They most likely will be back ordered. When you get them, take the old ones off and reinstall these. I did it myself 3 weeks ago and have had ZERO noise since then. You will need a Torx # T 40 and some silicone grease. E-mail me for the GM engineer that is working on this issue. Great guy and very responsive.

I have an 09 and received the bulletin and plan on calling my dealer this coming Monday and see if they have the parts or need to order them. If they have them I'm going in right away and get the fix. Although, I will admit my top has been totally quiet since I did the lube thing to the latches. 2,500 miles of zero noise.

Called the dealership today they advised they have some of the new latches on order but they have not been received as yet. Per their parts dept. they say the new latches do not show as available yet.

The other day after the car sat in the hot sun a short while, I kept hearing a popping sound that seem to come from the driver side targa latch but nothing was loose or undone. After a couple minutes it stopped and have not heard again. I assumed it was just a function of the heat and expansion and once the AC cooled down it went away. I usually don't have the car left out in the heat since it is garaged all the time. Is this what ya'll are talking about?

Yes, it will usually get worse with time but maybe you'll be lucky

Had it done. Not a peep (or a pop) since.

What's the deal with the bulletin? Do you have to ask or is it automatically sent out?

The bulletin is in the SI (Service Information) database for dealers to reference as required.

People on this board were insisting that all '09s (and the last couple of week's of '08 cars) got the new latches installed right at the factory...

So I guess that's not the case...?

Will my car have the new latches? I ordered it 5 weeks ago and am still waiting to take delivery.

Here are pics of the new latch FYI:

Did your '09 come with those latches from the factory?

The silicone is what really got it to stop on both my 08 with the old latchs and my 09 with the new latches.
