Remote RD
I certinly am no expert. I do read a bit on the RD.net forum. The guys in the know all seem to agree that if the antenna is placed level with a clear view of the road they will preform very well.

Pictures?
I have a 9500ci in my 08 coupe.
The radar detector is behind the front bumper.
The 2 front lazer shifters are tucked up in each corner of the grill.
I flipped the mounting bracket on the rear lazer shifter...to get it to mount higher on the licence plate.
The controls are beside the car start button.
The screen is on top of my rear view mirror.
The speaker and computer conection by my left foot when driving.
I have pictures...will send soon.

9500ci installation
I just installed a 9500ci in my '08 vert.
I have the display on top of the rearview mirror with the cord under the trim and down the "A" piller to the fuse box area. I put the speaker right behind the "waterfall" (that thing between the seats on a vert that is painted body colour). My control pad cable follows along the center console and up in the console storage bin. I mounted the junction box in the fuse box area which is in the footwell of the passenser side. I mounted my radar reciever in the front grill. My front laser shifters are under the front bumper in the corners on the surface above the egg crate grill. My GPS antenna is in the rear fender exactly where the XM antenna is. I did not install the LED or the USB update cable. If I need to do the USB update I will just plug the cable into the junction box in the footwell.
The install is not difficult. If you are mildly capbable do it yourself so that you know your car won't get hacked up. If you want more details PM me and maybe I can email you a few pictures. I'm happy to describe my install in detail with you.

I'm looking for some help in hooking the mute circuit. That is the last step before powering the system up. I need some help with direction on how to splice into the car wiring for the amplifier mute circuit. Can anyone help?.
If anyone wants pics of my install PM me.

Looking into getting this radar system. I seen a corvette when I was shopping around for one that had the ashtray removed but flip door still there, he then installed one of the componets there, cant remember which one. So when you flip the door of ashtray down you see your screen or the controls. Very nice. Can this system work with the race mesh grill inserts?

Thanks for the Pics. I'm pretty handy and all for saving a buck. I'm going to Tackle the install myself. How did you penetrate the firewall into the interior? How about dashboard for control switches? Thanks in advance for any info.

I mountd both the on-off and the display in the ash tray. I drive with the ash tray open, I can see it just fine. If a leo pulls me over I merely turn it off and close the ash tray. I love the stealth. I have a Bel STiR which is the same remote antenna as the Escort 9500ci I put it behind the front bumper skin. It can see through the thin plastic as well as they see through glass. It will not detect laser from behind the bumper though. I have a seperate system for that.

I installed my 9500ci several months ago so here are my “lessons learned”. I tried to keep this as short as possible while giving my “thoughts”, for what they are worth, from purchase through install but this turned out to be a rather long boring post. Sorry about that...
Also including pictures the Display and Control Unit mounted in the ash tray. These picture were taken right after my installation was complete so please excuse all the smudges and dirt. I could take and post better pictures if anyone is interested.
Purchase: I purchased my 9500ci from Soundworksz off eBay for $1050 with shipping. Escort is “big” on unauthorized resellers, just check out their website, but the 9500ci comes with 3 year subscription for updates and Escort does not offer extended warranty on remote units so why pay the extra “premium”.
Installation: I received my unit 2 days after I bought it in perfect condition. I was beyond frustrated trying to find a reputable installer in my area, North Jersey, so ended up installing it myself. I was more than intimidated with doing it myself as there are a dozen parts but glad I did as it was relativity easy and did not have to worry about anyone messing my car up. You will also save at least $800 installing it yourself. Like anything else it just takes a lot of patience and common sense along the way. Take your time and think it though and you will be fine. I only had to make two cuts in the car plus cutting the back of the removable part of the ashtray for the entire installation. One in the firewall gasket to run M4 antenna and Front Laser Shifter wires into passenger compartment and in the rear to run wire for Rear Laser Shifter into back hatch.
Firewall Access for running wires into passenger compartment: Take the battery out and the passenger feet well trim (the piece with the passenger foot well light under the glove box) COMPLETELY off, and you will have no problem running wires through the firewall. Doing this you will be able to reach up in the passenger well and feel the firewall gasket. Makes pulling the wire through the firewall really easy.
Controller Module: I have the Control Unit in the passenger foot well. This allows access to the passenger fuse panel as well as access to the firewall. There is also plenty of space there for bundling wires as you go along in the install. For power I have a fuse tap on the drivers heated seat fuse so unit powers up on start up and shuts off when I turn car off.
Display and Control Units: I have both my display and control unit mounted in the ashtray. Thought it would be a problem being “out of line of sight” but after using the unit for several months now I am more than happy with it as I get so few false alarms. Only part that had to be cut was the “back” of the removable ashtray. Ashtray flips up and down with no problem and install is completely transparent inside the car. Just remove the Ashtray Unit and fish a wire from the passenger foot well to the Ash Tray area which will take a few tries and then pull the Display and Control Unit wire through. Hardest part of the whole job was getting the ashtray spring back in place when reinstalling the Ash Tray unit.
M4 Antenna: I have the M4 antenna on a piece of “plastic deck board” in the grill. I was concerned with the antenna being so low but all reviews of the M4 antenna are right and the reception is beyond outstanding. I was planning on placing the M4 behind the bumper at some point but it works so well in the grill I may just leave it alone.
Speaker: Mounted in Driver Side foot well. I tied a string to speaker mount and pulled string from driver to passenger foot well. Then just pulled string tight and tied off to cable in passenger foot well. Then just pulled speaker wire through same way and connected speaker wire to control unit. The speaker is out of the way and no holes in car.
Front Laser Shifters: I have the front shifters mounted in the corners of the front grill using the mounts supplied with the unit and 3M double sided tape. Hardest part is making sure they are level and parallel to the bumper. Use the brackets mounts supplied with package and adjust the sides up and down until they are level.
Rear Laser Shifter: Mount right above Rear License Plate. You will have to take out one of the rear brake lights and the plastic rear hatch cover in the hatch but after that installation is very simple. Hardest part was running the wire to the passenger compartment and tucking in along the way.
GPS Unit: I mounted the GPS in the upper right corner on the passenger side with the wire tucked in the crease there and running to the passenger well. GPS unit blends in perfectly with dash.
USB for Updates: I have the Control Unit tuck in the right side of the passenger foot well compartment. I update the unit once or twice a month. I just pull the one push pin holding the right side in, pull the control unit out, update the unit with my laptop, tuck the unit back in and put the push pin back in.
Radio Control Wire: I didn’t install as the unit will alert you to Radar at top volume for around 3 seconds and then reduce volume anyway.
Radar Indicator LED: Once again I did not install as I want my install to be 100% transparent so I do not want any display indicators in the car compartment other than in the Ash Tray.
You will not be disappointed as the 9500ci is worth every penny. The M4 antenna combined with the red light camera and false alarm circuitry is beyond compare. One point to consider is that the Laser Shifters are secondary in nature but more than adequate. If you want “real” laser protection you could replace with Binders but that will double the cost.

No idea why the pictures didn't post. Not interested in setting up a Photo Bucket or anything that makes me move pictures on the Web just so I can post them. Looked at some of the posting pictures post but seem to have screwed it up. Someone let me know how I can post pictures that I have on my computer without moving them and I'll do it or just send me a PM.

Burning Brakes
i have the 9500ci mounted on my 08 coupe. Great detector, mounted low seems to make no difference when on the open road. In heavy traffic occasionally it can be affected, but if it's heavy traffic it does not matter as you can't speed anyway. The ci has on occasion beat my V1 but as much as 4 miles!! It typically alerts 5-10 seconds prior to the V1.
The laser shifter will NOT adequately protect either the front or rear of a Corvette. The rear is actually useless for anything other than to tell you what direction the laser shot came from.
You will need to upgrade the jammers to either Laser Interceptors or Blinders to have a chance against lidar. I personally went to the LI (regular on front and high power on rear). The rear of a C6 is much harder to protect than the front.
If any of you guys are in the ATL area and want to see any of this stuff in action, let me know. I have 5 lidar guns and 3 radar units to test with!

Thanks for the pics.
Your reply has inspired me. I'm a good wrench, but you know how it is, I don't want to hurt my baby. I'm going to do the install myself. Thanks again! You are AWESOME!

Been thinking of the ashtray ... Pics please? - I am in VA and they don't like radar detectors here ...

9500CI Installation Info
Actually, my installation was on a C6. Yes, I found some info that was very helpful, and some I just had to learn on my own. However, I ended with a very clean installation that I'm very happy with. If you are installing on a C6 I can send pics. If you are installing on a C5 the pics would probably be helpful.
