Default Someone About to Key My Car

Went to Best Buy yesterday to get a cable for my HD TV. Parked way out as I always do, took up one space and went in. As I was walking out the door I noticed a beat up pick up truck parked right next to my car with two guys standing between the truck and my car. One of the guys had his back to my car the other guy was walking towards the back of the car. For some reason I knew what he was about to do and it scared the crap out of me. I hollered as loud as I could and started running toward my car. Keep in mind that at 67 yrs old and a little out of shape, running is not what I'd call what I was doing. Anyway they must have heard me and jumped in their beat up truck and left. The first thing I did when I got to my car was try to keep from passing out. Anyway I did'nt get their LP # and they were gone. I thought about trying to catch them but thought better of. There was no damage to my car and popping a 45 in their a$$ if I caught them was out of the question, so I just went home.

I don't think these people understand how hard and how long people have to work to own things they can not. If they knew they are risking their freaking life when do these things, maybe they would think twice before they did it.

Glad you had no damage, and also that you didn't do something proactively stupid, like following them and shooting at them, like a few CFOT ballers would do. And maybe they were just admiring your awesome car (that's just like mine except the color. )

I just got a visual of you running towards your car..

Sounds like they were up to no good; glad you chased them off.

Good thing you yelled out and obviously they were about to do what you suspected, since they hauled ***. Hats off to you for derailing their attempt.

Sorry to hear that... Glad your car wasn't harmed. The most I've had to deal with is young kids trying to swipe my chrome air valve caps.(put the stock caps back on, problem solved... Lots of haters out there. If they aren't messing with it while its parked, they're tail gaiting you while you driving! I only drive mine on the weekend now... It used to be a D.D. My life's a lot let stressful now. When I do go to a store or mall... I go in, get what I came for then leave a.s.a.p.!

Good to hear that they didn't do any damage.
I can imagine that you were furious; glad you were able to cool down and make the sensible decision to let it go.

Man thats just ridiculous I just don't understand in my mind what would cause someone to want to intentionally damage someone else's pride and joy and then actually be able to sleep at night knowing what a pathetic loser they are with the things they do.
Also, as mentioned before can you think of anything whatsoever that could have tipped them off that day like before you got to Best Buy?

Thank god nothing happened though!!

Some people have no respect for other people's property. Most major chains have video coverage of their parking lots...

Same thing happened to me in the parking garage at the apartments I used to live in, but my car wasn't so lucky.

However, it could have been much worse. I could be in prison for popping them with my Glock 19 if I caught them in the act.

I guess that's why I park up close and between other cars. I'd rather take the chance with minor damage than vandalism.

People like that **** me off SO much, but my only satisfaction is knowing that people like that with that frame of mind will NEVER amount to what you have and will NEVER be able to have the satisfaction of driving a car like the corvette.

Glad that you're OK, but as much as we love our Vettes, always put your well-being as priority number one -
anyone who would vandalize your car will think nothing of doing physical harm to you!!

I have to admit that's definitely the right way to look at it. You never know what the other guy has, so not looking for a fight is the right way to go.

But being the dumbass silverback that I am (6'6" - 300 pounds, 26 years old) I'd probably pick a fight or chase them around or do something REALLY stupid like that. You did the right thing by yelling at them and scaring them away.

I'm really glad your car was unharmed.
