Default Why does c6 e-brake stick up?

People always think my e-brake is pulled. Why does it stick up so much. I drive an automatic and live in Florida so that e-brake never gets any use and looks odd sticking up in the air.

Not sure of why but that is the way it is and I agree it does appear like it is not fully released.

Because every time you glance over at it you think OMG I left the emergency brake on. It's a practical joke that the designers played on us.

Multi-fit ~ one size fits all ~ not specifically designed for the Corvette.

Yeh, I wish it was strong enough to do that - my last C5 E-brake, even pulled as hard as possible, had all it could do to hold the car on level ground, never mind a hill. No way it could "lock up" the rear wheels. Don't know why they make 'em so weak.

I realize Florida is pretty much flat but why "never" use the parking brake? It might be a good practice to actually use it. I do agree the handle could have been designed to be a bit more 'integral' with the console.

A common part...ergonomics...design efficiency are all likely. Many sports type cars have parking brake handles situated similarly.

It's a parking brake according to GM. There's no way this thing will bring the car to a stop in an emergency.

My daughter's Lab, 105 lbs, finds it annoying also, but he hasn't chewed it off yet.
