Corvette Best for a Midlife Crisis?
This CNN Money article thinks the Corvette is best for a midlife crisis. I have to admit, I'm right in the middle of said crisis.
What about you?
The best cars for your money
Sports-car snobs used to look down on the Corvette, but that makes no sense anymore. Best-in-class resale value? Check. Best-in-class insurance rates? Check again. Above-average fuel economy? You bet: 26 mpg on the highway.
Then there's the performance and comfort of a Porsche 911 for less than two-thirds the overall cost. Who's looking smart now?

No, I'm not. But I can see where it might apply to some. Off and on, I've owned a Corvette for many years, more than 10. So, I feel.....grateful for that option.

And you can buy a bunch of gold chains and Hawaiian shirts with the residual cash!

Thanks for the input. Everytime I create a poll it becomes immediately obvious great selections were left out.
Like lifetime owner, and young adult. In retrospect I would have chosen differently for the "Dude" choice...Sorry.

I voted 'none of the above'.
While I agree with CNN's listing of positive aspects of the Corvette, the stereotypical "mid life crisis" implies acquiring 'flash over substance' or 'appearance only' items (GF half your age, hair implants, etc).
The C6 is all about being the best 'bang for your buck' performance car in the world... hardly a 'flash over substance' purchase.

But it's all too often that you find some old woman in one, driving 10 under the speed limit, in the far right lane.
THAT is not what this car was made for, it's almost a waste. That could easily me accomplished in a caddy....
Sorry to say, same for some older men.

And WRT the pole, I chose "none of the above". I have been driving Z-28's and Corvettes since I got out of college and could afford to own.
When I was 28 - my 1986 IROC-Z was a "status symbol"
When I was 43 - my 2000 C5 was a "***** extension"
Now that I'm 50, I guess my 2008 is a midlife crisis car....oh well.
Actually, I think if someone is spending $50K for any reason other than a love of high performance Chevrolets, they are going to be disappointed after a short period of time - unless they are so rich that spending $50K is no big deal.

Whenever anyone accuses me of having a mid life crisis in my 'Vette. I tell them:
Well, I enjoyed my first childhood so much, I decided to enjoy my second one every bit as much!!
