That is about right given that new 08's can with similiar equipment can be bought for about $42k with 0% GMAC financing.
Kerbeck was recently offering brand new Zero Mile 08 1LT MN6 C6 Coupes (base model and no RPO options) for $40k plus tax & tags out the door.
Add in $1800 for the Z51 package and you're at $41,800 for a brand new 2008 C6 Coupe (1LT and Z51) with 0% GMAC Financing.
It's sad to say; but historically, American made cars have always had poor residual value and the economic recession isn't doing anything to help the cause.

And in this particular case; you receive an additional $2500 in trade value for the following options the $34k 08 does not have:
1. 2LT Package
2. NPP Exhaust
3. Premium Paint
The 34K trade vehicle does have Z51 which is a wash on the NPP exhaust option, so the extra $2500 in trade value could be attributed to more options in the 2LT package, a premium CRM paint color which may help move the car faster out of used car inventory and finally; you were trading up to an 09.
But if you do your homework; in the end all similiar equipped vehicles with roughly the same mileage are going to be worth the same whether you see it on the trade value side or on the purchase side of the new vehicle.
I know its convenient to trade it to the dealer, but I just don't understand why someone with a relatively new vehicle still under warranty wouldn't take the time to sell it privately and put the extra $3,000 in their own pocket, rather than the dealers.
