i'd like to know also. My sister and I are shipping both our Vettes to Europe to spend a month driving around and wondered about laws or regulations.

I took a 78 Z28 with a bored out 427 to Spain many years ago. It was great to have a one of a kind as it was very modified. We had a auto hobby shop on base so I had all the equipment I would ever need but I did have trouble now and then with getting parts. My dad worked at a chevy dealer so I'd get them but sometimes it took a while. With modern cars you shouldn't need to many consumables so you should be better off than I was then. Mu only concern would be if you needed any warranty work.
I would imagine you'll find a dealer that can work on it now though... and many other Corvettes to hang with...

Oh, laws... it's probably different now and you shuold be okay if you are taking it for a short trip like raazor but if you register it there they'll make you conform to their safety items. The biggie back then was all turn signals had to be yellow, front and back. Many cars had to have yellow lights for turn signals added to the rear because they came with red.

Any advice? Yeah! Go really fast and try to break every single law known to mankind. If you get ticketed, don't pay it since you'll probably never go back!
Other than that...be sure to drink lots of beers! (actually kinda surprised no one's mentioned that part yet)

Get Some!
Assuming you are going over with the Army or Air Force? If so it's no big deal. Here's my advice from owning a C5 Z06 in Germany for 2 years.
1. If lowered raise it up to full hieght, not only for the loading and unloading on the ship but some of the speed bumps over there are serious.
2. Even if you don't do auto-x and the Nurburgring you will drive faster and use more brake and tire. Because of import taxes it was cheaper to have a US dealer ship pads and rotors to me then buy them from a local dealer!!! So buy a few sets of pads, rotors, and maybe even a set of tires and have them in your household goods.
3. If you plan to go to the 'Ring get the LGM spindle ducts and DRM ducts, and DRM stailess steel pistons, and SS brake lines; and high temp fluid, at the minimum. If you can get a BBK do so.

Atomicuk makes for some great reading and the beginning of his thread talks about laws and hoops involved in bringing a car over the pond. He bought his in Florida, brought it to Europe and drove it all over.

Yes, get out on the Autobahn. Not just to enjoy some high speed driving (and be assured, it's not a track event) but, best of all, get to drive among properly trained drivers who know when to move over.
Oh, and start saving your money for fuel. It ain't cheap and at 100 mph or so, you're going to go through a lot of it. I'm not sure about Germany, but was in Italy in May and was paying something like $7.00 per gallon for diesel - which is cheaper than gasoline in Europe.

Just got back from a week in Spain. Every car I saw, was dirty and seemed to have a dent or a scrape. Roads are pretty good around the major cities and outlaying areas, watch out for narrow one way streets (Malaga). Get a good GPS with updated maps and make sure your AC is working.
Pros:
1. Food
2. People
3. Beaches
4. Quaint villages with sidewalk cafes
Cons:
1. Conjestion
2. High fuel prices
3. Lack of secured parking
4. Dollar/Euro exchange rate

Tire Rack will ship to APO addreses.
Some other points - there is no leeway on the speed limit. 1 KPH over the limit is speeding. And don't drink and drive. Very serious over there.
The autobahn has more sections with speed limts than previously, especially in and around the cities.
Photo cameras are springing up in more places. It doesn't matter who is driving. If it's registered to you, it's your ticket.
Make sure you have insurance coverage in Europe and look to see if you are covered if you are in an accident when traveling over 130 KPH (80 MPH). Many polices will not cover you if you are traveling at an excessive speed, even on sections of the autobahn with no limit.
Lastly, wach for fog. Germans don't slow down in fog, so you read about 100 car pile-ups quite often.
Keep your passport with you - everything is so close you can go into another country for a day trip.
