a quote from above;
"The girl who hit you may have done something stupid - but at least she did not lie about it after the fact."

Good luck

Glad to hear you are ok! Material things can always be replaced.

I was at fault in an intersectional accident. I was actually driving through a part of town I was not familiar with and I got lost. I was looking for a specific street. There was a big building blocking the name of the street and I kept paying attention to see if I could see the name of the street. By the time it hit me I looked up and it was a red light.... I was oh sh........ I looked and didnt see any cars coming and thanked my lucky stars that I got so lucky when BAMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I crossed the path of another car and he didnt have a choice but to hit me.. Pretty bad accident. both cars were totaled. Luckily we were able to walk off ok. Accidents happen, thats what insurance is for. I didnt mean it to happen but it did. I did teach me a lesson. If I don't know where I am going focus on the street signs and make a uturn later if I need too!

Looks bad.... If the insurance company says they want to repair, be sure to request diminished value on your loss. That might make them reconsider repairing it...

Man thank the stars you're okay, Great reporting and pictures of your poor car.

That wheel did it's job absorbing the impact and dissipating the energy. I love the engineering built into the Corvette.

Hope you will get everything back to 100 percent.

Thank God both of you are OK. I personally would not want a car that has been in this bad of an accident. Time to start thinking New Vette. Good Luck.

I don't think Rejex will help this one, but I hope you are okay, the vette can be replaced. Good luck! I hope everything works out for you.

Keep us posted on if they total it !

Good thing she admitted to being at fault. If there was no witnesses and she did not admit to it, then based on conflicting statements they may have not been able to determine fault.

I was in stop and go traffic once and I saw a teenage girl text messaging. BAM she rear ends a family in a brand new pickup truck. The funniest thing was, her airbag blew her cell phone across the road.
Firtst thing she did was jumped out and ran across traffic to get her phone and was already texting before she got back to her car.

Guy in the pickup came back and told her thanks for checking if we were oK before going to get your f'n phone you stupid b..... I gave the guy my phone # in case he needed a witness that she was texting as she asspacked him.

Glad your OK. Sweet color and stripe combo.

Did she receive a citation for this? If not, you should contact the police and "push" for that. It can only help as you move forward in this process. The "obvious" isn't always so obvious when insurance companies are involved. Glad to hear you are OK after this event.

Thanks everyone! Yes, she got a ticket for going through a steady red light. At least she owned up to what she was responsible for. I can still see it costing me some big bucks to get a new one if it's totaled. But considering the damage I'm still hoping that's the outcome.

This is an event that I had no control over so I'm just going to make the best of it. It's only money. And at least I know what I want to do with a new one. And it will be white.

First of all: Walt, so glad you are OK and have a healthy positive attitude following this incident.

There have been other cases - reported on the Corvette Forum - of the cast aluminum wheels on C6's breaking when subjected to a SUBSTANTIAL impact, including very deep potholes at very high speeds. As long as the yield strength is not exceeded, cast aluminum functions very well. Forged aluminum wheels in this accident would have been severely bent (not repairable) or perhaps even fractured after some significant ductile deformation. What you are looking at is the result of huge external forces, not deficient wheel castings.

Wow!!! Glad you came out OK

I think it will be close. Since it is a 2005 the value will be lower than a 2007 or 2008 AND since the air bags deployed the dash has to be replaced along with the air bags, control units etc (this alone will be several thousand dollars).... And this is before you start talking about any of the body repairs and suspension/frame work that will need to be done as well...

Keep us informed, but I am guessing that you might be looking at a total.

Glad you're both OK. Thanks for sharing this traumatic experience. Nice to know Onstar is there when you need it most.

I don't think that will buff out.
