Saw that on the news earlier. Maybe we will get out of all the "games" and now. Lets hope.

It's now a monopoly, prices are only going to go up. Of course, they'll find ways to do it legally, like paying different amounts for different packages, etc..

Personally I like my sat radio and rather pay a few bucks to not listen to all those commercials... I understand there just was not enough subscriber numbers to support two channels.

why can't we have sat TV in our cars?

When it happens, what would have to be done to the respective installed units? Will the signal be automatically received no matter which unit you have?

From XM radio's web site:

Q) What should I expect in terms of subscription costs and programming after the merger?

A) Following the FCC's approval of the merger, XM subscribers will enjoy a full complement of programming like they do today at their current subscription of $12.95. XM will also offer subscribers XM service and a selection of SIRIUS programming for a total price of $16.99. Several other new programming packages will be offered, including two "family-friendly" options and packages featuring mostly music, or music, news and talk, etc. The programming line up will be announced after the deal closes.

Q) Should I buy a radio today or wait for a dual-service radio? I want to buy a second radio; should I wait for the new models?

A) There's never been a better time to be an XM subscriber. Any radios or other equipment that subscribers currently use will be fully supported by XM for many years to come, and existing radios will be able to receive a mix of programming from both services.

Anyone remember when the whole point of buying cable was that there were no commercials? If this turns into what cable is like now, I will be really pissed. I have NO problem paying the fees as long as there are no commercials. Try watching a good show on Discovery Channel now a days. More commercials than show it seems.

I used to love the American Movie Channel (AMC). Great classic old movies and no commercials. Not any more. A 90 minute movie takes two+ hours to watch on AMC. Dang commercials!

And in another post, XM is bragging about our ability to continue to receive their fine programming. Seems like a great many forum members who have experience with Sirius don't want XM! Give us Sirius quality on XM!!

May be a good thing, but smells like trouble to me.

I hope it works out for us XM subscribers. BUT, somehow I smell a rat. I bet in the long run it is going to cost all of us..... MORE.
