Could have been a LOT worse. I investigated a case in Jackson, MS, where a defective forging for the BushHog blade caused the blade to break, sending a 20 pound, 24" long whirling scythe across I-55. It went through the windshield of a minivan and decapitated the driver.

I was stuck in a snowstorm at a red light once, when a sand truck drove by spreading sand/gravel, and beat the dickens out of the five or so cars parked with me. Fortunately, it was several years ago in a Pontiac Bonneville. Still, it's depressing to get wounded when you have nothing to do with it. You'll be good as new.

I bush hogged the lease car in my gravel driveway and a window in my house on the bounce. All total that one cost me 500 bucks. The car and the window were 50 feet apart so that rock was haulin butt.
Glad your ok.

Living in a rural area, I am ******* these things all the time. I guess it is just really a matter of what you are used to. Bush Hogs, tractors pulling plows, disks, planters and the 30ft wide grain head combine coming down the road at you are all things you learn to deal with. Oh and the guy with the rider that decides it is better for the grass clippings to be blown out into the road rather than in his yard. Dealing with all these things while out on the Harley makes for some real fun times!
Glad you guys were ok, but there is no way in hell I would have not approached this guy. At the very least, you could have called the local sheriffs department.
