Yes, it will be a lot louder! The cats restrict a lot of air/ exhaust coming from the engine. Removing them creates more power and more noise!

I am sure it varies state to state but in Arkansas it is illegal to remove cats from gas burning vehicles with out replacing them. We don't even have any muffler shops around here that would even offer to do it as they could get closed down.

High flow cats with catback exhaust would be recommended. Lack of back pressure to the engine leads to engine problems. The pros do it because they only plan on getting 1 race in before rebuilding.

Tell us how you really feel Steve!

Seriously I agree. I don't think you want a straight pipe set up for several reasons, including the noise.

You mean take off the Borlas and run straight pipes? The car will be outrageously, painfully loud. Take off the cats and you've turned a ULEV into a code-throwing, inspection-failing, fume-generator for no perceptible power gain.

Both changes are completely obnoxious. Obnoxious people will disagree.

What are we talking about....Top Fuel Dragsters here?? That is the biggest piece of misinformation posted on this thread! Just terrible advice, and knowledge. Disregard the above, as it is completely untrue, and inaccurate.

Although that post is terrible, the posts that claim taking the cats off will provide no discernible benefit are correct, but not because of what the above poster is claiming. The stock cats flow well enough that removing them will not help performance (on a stock or stockish car) discernibly. AND you would have to get a tune, to prevent error codes. And yes, it would unnecessarily spew emissions w/no cats. Basically, if you're asking about removing the cats, neither your car nor your car knowledge are to the point that you should be removing the cats, IMO.

I Agree! Instead of wasting you money run the full Borla Exhaust. You will have more flow, better sound and you won't have to worry about inspections or error messages.
