For a lot less than 70K, you could upgrade the Vette to make it stomp the R8. Why didn't they use the Z06?

Interesting. Looks like they took a base C6 against a 120+K Audi R8 and the C6 lost - by a little. Go figure... I'd like to see the numbers on the top of the line Audi (yup R8) against the top of the line Corvette - ZR1 or even Z06 or a C6 with Z51 or F55....

Apples to oranges...Where was the Z06. Hell it's a track race, why not at least a Z51 package? I can only think the Z51 could make a second or two and I know the Z06 would come out on top...But 70K wow! I would hope the German car should win...

He simply doesn't know how to drive the vette. Put a good driver in both and the LS3 would stomp that R8. Plain and simple truth.

First, Nathan needs to get a set, drive it like its not yours!
Second, The winner is clear, The Corvette. Comparing a car that costs 115+K compared to a 50K car is stupid. If I can afford a car that costs 115+K it better be the top three fastest cars on the planet. I would feel foolish to own a car that costs that much and only perform 1.38 seconds faster. I would love to see it go up against a Z06 or better yet a ZR1. Oh well I'll be sleeping better tonight knowing that I have a world class sports car in my garage that can keep up with the best of them including a Audi that costs 115+K.

I paused the video in the beginning when they were doing different views of the vette and noticed that the front disc brakes were drilled. I assume that means it had the Z51 package on it but it doesnt look like it had NPP.

If the guy was a better driver, he probably would have been able to push the vette harder. Looks like the Audi is easier for a novice to drive hard.

Difficult to tell from their soundtrack but it sure sounded like he was shifting at low RPM's. The Z51 improvements would have helped a lot.
I think drivers in these kinds of shows are usually biased against the Corvette because they're so inexpensive (compared the competition).
It's human nature for most folks to be awed by high priced automobiles.

Took a better look at the video, its the Z51 and NPP exhaust, but Nathan still needs to drive it harder

Of course, there's a lot more to the R8 than straight-line acceleration times. While I won't get into a pi**ing match about which is quicker or which gives the better bang for the buck, don't doubt for a moment that the Audi is an incredibly fine ride. For that kind of money it oughta be and it doesn't disappoint. It has a level of refinement in the details that few other cars can match. Whether or not you value what it offers is a personal choice but be assured that the R8 delivers.

That C6 looks great but the R8 looks incredible. Nice sound from it too and you can tell it has less body roll on the slalom. Nice cars.

Couldn't agree more! All of these shows seem to take the top of the line of all kinds of cars against the base (even if Z51) Corvette. The object is to show how other cars, especially Euro cars are better than American cars. If they used a Z06 all the time, they would all lose and what fun would that be for them.

The only area they should be comparing and winning is in the interior of the car. In ALL sporting features one of the 3 Corvettes will beat almost every car on the planet.
