I live in oregon and front plate is a must here. there are two brackets I am looking at. The stock one is so gay i can not even coment on it.
the topflight ~$89 and the aeroplate ~$120
topflight
aero plate
I was leaning towards the top flight but am worried that the low portion will mark up the paint on the car. anybody with any experince here?

Never heard of the aeroplate. I have the Top Flight removable bracket. In my opinion for the less fortunate that need to have a front plate, I wouldn't purchase any other than the TF bracket. Well made product and some of the best customer service in the business. Peter from Top Flight is a regular forum contributor, he gives a lot back to the Corvette community.

does it come into contact with paint at all on the lower portion and makre it up? if not I will go with it on price alone. spending $120 and plate bracket is not something I want to do.

ohh I agree I don't want to run a front plate but me and cops have never really saw eye to eye anyway so I am not going to push it on the plate issue.

I know what you mean about local LEOs. I was stopped two times in the first seven days I owned my car. I had a receipt for a bracket on order and was let go with a warning. The locals are a little overzealous when it comes to front plate citations around here. I never hesitated to install the TF bracket.

The Top Flight bracket is held to the front fascia with a 3M adhesive strip on a steel bracket. I've had to remove and replace mine once and with a little heat and some fishing line it comes off and cleans up without a mark. The rest of the bracket attaches with an angle bracket and two wing nuts to the bracket held on with adhesive. You can mount the front part so that there is no contact with the forward facing portion of the front bumper. Quality product, easy install and no worries about damage.

done deal. orded it up along with a mess grill.
man $90 for those painted frames. I think I am going to have to price the atomic orange paint. unless it is $180 a quart I am just painting my own.
for some reason I like the painted frame but not the thick ones they sell. something just not right about them.

As for the frame, buy a good quality black plastic frame, order a can of spray paint from your Chevy dealer, and paint it yourself. For about $30 you get a great looking frame paint matched to the color of your car. I read this suggestion in this forum and it was a great suggestion. Put the paint on in very light coats and put about 3 coats on. It looks great!

Don't know why no one has mentioned it, but the TopFlight bracket kit comes with foam tape that you put on the backside of your plate to prevent any contact with the body. Works great. Have had mine for a year now and not a single mark on the body.
GM is a good source for a can of spray paint in your body color. Another good source is http://www.automotivetouchup.com. I just ordered several spray cans of primer, paint and clear coat from them. All in Crystal Red of course!

After being stopped and given a warning, I too have the removable TF bracket. I have it mounted so the plate does not touch the paint on the top or bottom.
