Air Dam & Chevy Dealer
On my return trip from Bowling Green (went to the NHR Reunion & did the museum and factory tour while there) I lost my air dam. Went round trip from Binghamton, NY area.
I have on 07 with 11,000 miles. Took it to the Chevy dealer where I bought it. They only sell 2 a year. The service manager printed out the front end spec sheet and told me that the car didn't have an air dam. I obviously insisted that it had one (past tense). I suggested that he call GM back and talk to someone who specialized in Corvettes. The issue is still not resolved.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Thanks.
Brian

Dear god. Yes, the car has (had) an air damn when your dealership sold it to you. While they are not that expensive and not hard to install I really wish some of these dealers would try just a litte bit to get a clue, any clue.
Go to the link below. Print out the photo illustration on the page (from the GM SPO catalogue) and tell the dealer it is part #17 and part #14 in the picutre.

The dealer told you there was no air damn on the car???* Really???*
PLEASE go back there and tell them your flip up lights no longer work on your 07! And tell us what they say.

You may have a real collectors item there! NO FACTORY AIR DAM.. Tell the dealer to get their collective heads out of the butts.... ALL C6 vettes are made with an air damn. It's an important part of the cars cooling and aerodynamic systems...

The sad part is that the service manager is trying. He showed me the spec sheet of the front end and it did not show the air dam.
He called GM and that didn't produce any help. I asked him if he can call the Corvette factory in Bowling Green but he said that they do not have access to the factory. Again, he was next going to try to talk to someone at GM with some knowledge of Corvettes but so far I do not have resolution of the issue.

You may be encountering a problem with semantics. GM does not refer to the air dam components as an "air dam". GM calls the center air dam a deflector and the two side air dams valences. There may also be other descriptions floating around.
If all else fails, put the car on a rack and look straight up. If the parts are gone, it will be obvious where they attach. Then again,
losing all three "air dams" simultaneously sounds a little fishy to start with.

I'll bet with the print out from Talon90 above, they will have the info they need to look up the parts.

This is another reason why I order all my parts from Gene Culley at www.gmpartshouse.com . Has them delivered to my door cheaper than I would pay at the dealership and it is always the right part number.

I thought that the air dam was not installed at the factory- It is part of the dealer prep to install the dam prior to delivery. Sounds like this dealership doesn't have a clue.

For the original poster, did you loose all three pieces? If so, how?

Also make sure you use the right bolts to install the panels, my dealer must have lost one of mine and used a cheap philips self-tapper that the panel ripped right through over time.

Brian, Since this is damage and not warranty work just go to any Chevy dealers parts dept. and order the parts you need with the above posted part numbers. Those parts are cheap and easy to install yourself...
