slightly off topic, but i have a tendenacy to blip the throttle around 4k rpms with the NPP switch set to open while under a bridge to make some noise... every now and then when i do this, the car revs and seems to backfire... sounds like a 9mm round being fired

What is causing this carbon buildup? I use Exxon 93 gas. Maybe it is time for a change.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

what about a slight smoke at idle once the engine warms up? No increase in volume when the RPMs are raised. Didnt notice until after CAM/Tune

My theory from what I have seen is that the carbon gets built up behind the exhaust flap that is closed. So when you nail it and it opens up, it blows it out thus creating the black cloud. I may be completely wrong but it seems reasonable to me.

try a catch-can.

my exhaust tips have been staying a bit cleaner with the catch-can installed.
