the most likely cause of hesitation is a dirty air filter. start there before you go off on any major expenses.

No, not at all. I can spin the tires, and get just a bit out of shape before traction control kicks in. Acceleration is instantaneous, and you know TC kicked in because it lights up the indicator on the dash.

I wonder why they did the drive by wire system, it can't be less expensive than a cable????

Don't have any hesitation on stick. TC/AH kicks in after a bit of squirely dance.

Allows Torque Management/Traction Control to control throttle inputs as well as other parameters such as pulling timing.. Makes for smoother, less intrusive nannies.
Plus the programmer can manipulate throttle inputs such as throttle position.
On the Pontiac Grand Prix and I am sure other models that share the platform, the throttle position gain is increased during the first 1/2 of pedal travel, ie 1/3 throttle is actually 2/3's throttle blade movement to increase the feeling of acceleration..

I have found you can mitigate the delay somewhat on an A6 by putting the car into Competitive Driving Mode. You will still have about half a second of delay though.

The slight Hesitation that you are refering to is the built in time delay that allows you time to reach for your camera so you may photograph the rear of the C6 with the M6 transmission that just took you off the line......

The hesitation will be reduced if you push the traction control button once and hold it down for five seconds. You have active handling but nothing else.

Torque management on the automatics can be "tuned" out on shifts but not launch. The trick is to roll on to the throttle. If the VCM feels one of the rear tires spin.... TM kicks in and you get a slight hesitation.

Disabling the traction control and TM on upshifts will improve the feel. There are also an issue with the drive by wire throttle not opening fully or at the same rate we press the pedal on the later C6s. This can be resolved with the new beta version of HP Tuners.

Unfortunately, you have to tune in order to make these changes thus voiding the warranty. Sorry guys there is no happy medium here

Look at the bright side, on my wife's 03 Infinti G35 coupe the traction control is so invasive she always rather stop rather than hit the throttle

Pretty much why I dumped my A6.
