Default Fix for popping roof!

Got my fixed at the chevy dealer with their chesey fix from GM. Was quite for (3) days and it was back louder then ever.

So I took an other electrical connector, opened the lacthes and jammed it in and closed the latch on it. Did it for both sides. That was a week ago and its been silent since. Even when going on bumpy roads.

I am hoping this keeps on working until GM comes out with a real fix.

Anyone here anything new about that?

It's not just '05 - '06, our 4 month old '08 just started it this past weekend on our trip to Corvettes in the Dells.... Bought the E Clips and plan to install them soon.

I really don't understand why GM didn't just use mrtoner's solution. It has proven itself to be working, is very easy to install and doesn't cost a lot to do. I am sure by now his thread has made its way through GM by now, and still they haven't gone that route.

I have had the clips mrtoner suggested in for over 2,500 miles now and not a pop from the roof. Thanks again, mrtoner....

I also did the e-clip insertion on my '08 awhile back. Awesome fix - zero pops...

That's funny because I can remember jamming foam rubber in the latches of my '72 and '73 coupe t-tops to quiet them. Whatever it takes! Thanks for sharing!

No, you will need to push it in all the way. He was just using that photo as an example of where it goes in.

For the photo, if it were pushed in, you wouldn't see it.

I had the new latches put on at the Bash and it's popping again. So I thought I would do the e-clip thing but they don't seem to work on the new latches. I can't get them in. THere appears to be some material in the area that the clip needs to occupy. If I force them in it would cut into this material (kind of a resin looking stuff). SO not sure what to try now. This is ridiculous that this can't be fixed properly. I'm about ready to buy a Z just to get rid of the embarrassing popping noise. Maybe that's their plan, haha

Just spend the $1 at Lowes and do the E-Clip thing. It worked for me and have not had a problem since. I have patented the idea and presented it to Billy Mays and they will be sold on infomercials for the low price of $19.99 and if you act fast we will send you 2 for the price of one.
