Default Why would I want headers?

OK, after you get done laughing at the question how about a serious reply.

Why would I want to put headers on my 2007 car? What advantages do I gain? Any cons?

Pros: More power, better sound
Cons: Make sure you pass emissions tests

No emissions testing in Florida.

What set of headers do you folks recommend to mate with Corsa Sport exhaust (A6 version)?

live in a state with no testing...

Yes when coupled with a good tune, you will see nice gains from adding headers.

Wonder how they'd do with the Borla "Sports". Also have the x-pipe.

LG Pro if you are going to do any major engine/power adding mods, LG Streets if you are not planning these type mods.

Do a search. LG Motorsports and American Racing are popular around here.

Great sounds and a little more hp will be the gains.

You will have to reposition the O2 sensors because of the headers. This will probably cause an engine light due to the O2 sensor not getting up to temp in a specified time frame. Some folks have been able to solve this with a couple of engine cycles. More than likely you will have to have a tuner disable the O2 sensor if you have emissions testing done in your state.

Opps, sorry I missed your post about no emissions in FL. If you're not worried about possible warranty problems, I'd still get a tune to make use of all the hp potential.

Headers allow for better breathing.. more air/fuel = more power. Also they remove more heat from the engine and they are lighter than stock cast iron manifolds. They also allow your other mods to perform their best..
Only you can decide if they are necessary or not...

Why would you want headers? More Power and a better sound. I have an 06 Vert, LS2 with Sterling Coated Kook's 1 3/4" Long tubes, high flow CATS and Corsa Sport axle back exhaust. I first added the headers with stock exhaust but found very little change in exhaust sound. Added the Corsa Sport and now my exhaust is alive with a great sound. When adding the headers I also changed out the tunnel plate going with Elite Engineerings insulated plate.

After adding the headers I drove for some 600 miles without throwing any codes and noticed a marked improvement in WOT performance. I also added a CAI and decided I should go with a tune to take full advantage of the improvements in breathing. The Dino Tune added an additional 10 rwhp. Also, rear 02 sensors were disabled as I was told that it was only a matter of time before the rear 02's would throw codes.

Adding headers may or may not comprimise your warranty.

I am running the Kooks 1 7/8" headers with jet hot coating along with no cats, Kooks off road X-pipe and Borla Sports aka Stingers and a Predator tune. The car sounds unbelievable and the performance is outstanding, but this was all in the plans of my performance mods as it will work even better once my cam and heads go in on the 23rd of this month.

Absolutely! Assuming maintaining your warranty is a concern, I suggest you check with your dealership before making any performance modifications. My dealership aggressively denies warranty repairs for any performance modified car...this would include headers.

Yup, testing is a good source of income for a state strapped for cash.

Most do it for power and sound, but you can do without the sound if that's your thing. IMO, one of the best things about headers is that they can be used with stock exhaust; you keep the car quiet but still gain the power.
