Default Differences between 08+ NPP and 06+ Z06 dual mode?

I am wanting to get NPP exhaust for my 05 C6 and figured I would have to get only the 08+ C6 NPP for it to fit correctly. I am curious what the differences are between stock 06/07 Z06 dual mode exhaust (besides the 3" pipe compared to 2.5" on NPP). Anyone know if the mufflers themselves are identical? Reason I ask is I found a nice 06 Z06 dual mode exhaust for sale for very cheap however I want my car to sound exactly like my friends 08 with stock NPP. I am just worried that the mufflers may actually be different as well I and I wont get the sound I want.

Thanks,
James

I am under the impression that the mufflers may be slightly different too based on something I read. I can tell you after driving one, the Z sounds awefully good too though. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Well I did some more research and some do infact say they are different with different baffling inside the mufflers. They also said the NPP mufflers are louder when open. I think I may have to pass one the Z06 mufflers then because NPP is really want I want plus I know its 100% plug and play where as Z06 mufflers I will need pipe reducers.

Thanks

if you are installing just the z06 mufflers that are cut off within a couple of inches, they are 2.5" and a direct weld on. if they are 'very cheap' i would pick them up and try them. you can always sell them here for pretty decent money as they have become very popular....

Quit worrying about the perfect sound. Go for the Z06 exhaust. Cut your 2.5" pipe off as close to the muffler as you can. Cut the Z06 pipe off an extra 3/8 to 1/2" from the muffler. Your existing pipe will fit in the flare of the Z06 inlet and then weld it in place. It'll look so good that no one will know it's not factory. Use Pipedreams NPP in a box for control. You probably won't ever get "exactly" the same sound as a ls3 because you have an ls2, but it'll be real close.

I would 100% wait for the NPP, night and day difference. I have had at least 5 owners of Z06 retrofits listen to my car (2005 with NPP) and say, "I wish I waited"
