Panic! Wife stuck in car!!!
Went out looking at cars yesterday. Wife stayed in car while I walked around the carlot. She decided to get out. I had the fob in my pocket so the doors locked and she was stuck. When she tried the door the horn honked. Then she really panicked She started honking the horn to get my attention. The other people in the car lot were asking what was going on? So I hit the remote so she could get out. Wife doesn't want to get in the car again. I know there's a setting to allow passengers to get out after the fob has left the car but haven't had a chance to look it up.

That is why I don't like the automatic locking. Besides that there is always that chance that the FOB will drop out of my pocket, the sensors won't pick it up and I'm locked out. At least OnStar would bail me out.

You both need to read the owner's manual a little. 2006 owner's manual, page 2-20.
The theft-deterrent system will not arm if you lock the
driver’s door with the power door lock switch after the
doors are closed.
If your passenger stays in the vehicle when you leave
with the keyless access transmitter, have the passenger
lock the vehicle after the doors are closed. This way the
alarm will not arm, and your passenger will not set it off.

Here's a thought. Give her the other fob. That way she can stay in the car and set off the fob reminder (three honks) when you get out first! I now wait for my wife to get out before I do.

My wife did that 2 weeks ago at the local Chevy dealer when I was inside making an appointment for inspection. I get this cell phone call to come and get her out as the horn was honking. She forgot about the emergency eject handle.

If the car was set to autolock, I'm pretty sure it would have started blowing the horn if she used the door unlock button. Not sure about the emergency release handle.
