Vette owners stand your ground!
I'm seeing lots of folks on this forum apparently taking big losses selling their Vettes. I know there are lots of reasons folks need to dump their Vettes for less than they'd like. I just want to say that just because dealers are dropping their prices doesn't mean we have to. The market is dictated as much by the owners as by the dealers. Don't panic!
One also gets the sense that there are lots of small dealers masquarading (sp) as normal folks on this forum waiting to low ball the next seller. I just want folks to not panic, just be patient and wait for the market to correct itself. The used Vette market will be better for it in the long run.

A lot of people like to sell their Vette with it is 1-2 years old also. I can't say I feel sorry for the big hit they will take then. It is also a buyer's market and a lot of private sellers don't seem to have that much time to try to get the big kill like dealers do.
It all depends on supply and demand. Right now there is a real big supply with little demand due to the economy and dealers holding on to their cars for more then market value. It'll fix itself when the C7 comes out but then we'll complain about additional dealer profits and such.
Don't forget the C6 is in its 5th year so it isn't a new style any more.

This is NOT going to be a problem for me. At my age, if I buy a apple tree to plant, it HAS to have apples ON it. This, more than likely will be my last vette. It is the best one yet and I plan on driving it till they put me in that vette garage in the sky.....

For me it is the delta on the deal, not the price
I paid $52K for my 07 LT3 Z51 in Oct of 2006. Not sorry.
At that time Z06s were MSRP or above.
I have 7000 miles and my Vette became my daily driver around six months ago.
The math in 06 had I been willing to live without a removable top would have been $80,000 for the Z06 or $52,000 for mine.
Now I can get a Z06 that was $80,000 for $70,000. My car would bring in around $35,000. So the differential to me is $35,000 roughly (plus tax and license but that's always an issue)
Before it would have been $28,000 difference. ( 80 - 52 )
So for $7,000 I'be been able to drive my Z51 for 1.5 years, if I trade up to a Z06 tomorrow.
So I don't think so much about absolute numbers, as I do about value of the deal.
On the other hand--- I'm still not ready to give up being able to take the top off, and I love the LeMans Blue color, so at the moment it doesn't matter to me. Think I'll just put on a Borla aggressive exhaust........ wait I did that last week. I'm good.

To the OP: this is not a war. If you'd rather have the car than the money, keep the car. If you'd rather have the money than the car, sell the car. Simple, really.

Actually, the price is dictated by the "black book", which is what the dealers have to pay for cars at the auctions. We can complain all we want however, that is the way it is.
You can say, well sell it yourself and get more, who really wants to go through all of the hassel.
I am not a dealer, but do have some knowledge in this area.

The market is dictated by the current state of affairs in your or anyones area. The price is the price!!If I can buy a newer model for the same or slightly more than your older model, guess which one I'm buying!!It's been the norm for Vettes to command roughly 50% +- resale (selling it yourself) after 3+ years of ownership. If you sell to soon,oh well!Lets not forget, these are depreciating commodities! They also are the best American resale value car out there!

I understand that sometimes things happen. Sometimes you need to sell due to financial issues. But one shouldn't confuse needing with wanting (such as wanting a 2008 model). On a side note, I find that a bit silly when somebody is trading in their 05 or 06 model for an 08 just for the LS3, an extra 35 HP. Big whoop. But I suppose those guys have more money than I.

I've sold 3 cars in my short lifespan. You just have to set a price in your mind and not budge on any lowball offers, and continue to drive the car until somebody buys it.
