Not bad for almost seven years, I think its a keeper
This just can't be. You must have not read all the threads where people who don't own a 05 tell everyone to stay away from them because of all the problems with them.

Trouble free 05 owner here also.

There have been plenty of mostly trouble free '05's. And there are plenty of forum survivor cars out there. In fact mine is almost 7 years old, but it took 5 of those years to clear out all the engineering defects. Early on with the new C6 we had sorts of new and unusual problems that cropped up with enough regularity, that it turned off alot of owners. Many of those owners gave up in one way or another along the way, so they are no longer represented here. A built in forum bias. I am the rare bird with 54 days of shop time, yet I still love and drive my DD ride!

ALL the '05's were defective. They all had bad roofs. And back then as it developed, it was a VERY big deal!

I wonder how many of the forum members that warn people not to buy an 05 will themselves buy the first year C7? Of course wisdom & practicality would suggest to wait until the bugs are out of the car/first yr of release but lets face it, most people do not buy Corvettes because of it being a practical purchase.

No problems at all so far, 2005 vin 3615. I purchased it this past April with 30K miles on it and am the second owner (it originally sold in Dallas). Replaced the factory battery three weeks ago just because I wanted to. The warranty history shows only the top being repainted at 243 miles. Looks and drives like it is new.

FastMover I really like your avitar! These three are mine..now they are what you call "some problems"

The timing could not have been better for this repost! I have just decided to get into a C6 and have been looking at several '05 models. From what Im reading here, it looks like Im making a good choice! One thing I didnt know was about not having a 5yr/100k warrenty. What did they come with, the standard 3yr/36k? Also, what year DID have the 5yr/100k?

Mine is an early 05 and have had very few issues other than the occasional recall. Roof caused me a few visits but once it was fixed correctly it has been fine. I love every mile I have put on it. (50k) I have had 4 "first year" vehicles in my life and have never been burned. Knock on wood...

Love that DSOM!

We all know it to be a potential problem, but the desire to be 1st on the block runs too strong in our veins!

My car is an 05 and has had nothing fixed.
Have done normal stuff like replace battery once so far,oil changes, tires, etc.
Even after completely taking the entire interior apart and putting it back together I don't have so much as a rattle.
This car has been fantastic to me in every way.

My 2005 compared to my 2010? The 2005 was a overall better built vehicle..period. I had an auto so YMMV. So many little options disappeared without notice in the later years.

Now days it dosn't matter much based on improved design & enginering methods. In fact the first models out should get good attention. Who knows you could be dead in a year why wait
