Try to focus on what YOU want not what others think. If you're considering buying a Corvette to impress others? You might want to reconsider. If buying a Corvette is a life long desire, or in love with the styling and performance, than do it. Remember, your money, YOU Decide, Good Luck, Salt

My 05 C6 gets better gas mileage than my 05 Murano or my 07 CTS. And as noted, mileage on your tires depends on your foot.
Now you have heard from more "everyones" .

I average 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. You can drive a Nissan Altima and not get better than that. My 05 Honda Accord didn't get better than that either, and those are considered to be cars that get great gas mileage.
I also have 28k miles on my 07. It's my daily driver. The rear tires still have lots of tread left but the fronts are almost worn to the wear bars. I think I can go another 2k on them. So 30k out of the original base (not supercar) tires is great IMO.

I bought my first Vette two years ago this month at the age of 59. One of the best purchases I have ever made. I am getting 21.5 MPG over the two years and still have plenty of tread on the original tires after 27,000 + miles. This car gets better gas mileage than my Outback. Buy one - you won't regret it!

I am really excited now
I rented one last year when I went to LAs Vegas. Drove it out in the desert into the mountains and fell in love. I like the AO but that magneta red with the black top is awesome too.

Why do you need to justify your car purchase to them or feel the need to defend any choice you make? Irritate them more and say "I know and I don't care" even though they are wrong.

Even if it was true (and is not look at all replies) it would still be worth it, Best bang for you bucks in sport car kindom, period. By the way I get 30 mpg on the Fl turnpike ( pretty flat) my wife only get about 21 on her BMW Z4, and its a 6cyl. Oh tires depend on your right foot, remember 400+ hp

Get a C6, you will not regret it. Like everyone said, everyones does not know what they are talking about. You heard what people who know about Corvettes said, so listen to them, I would.

These people have to be totally ignorant....tires should last 40k miles (unless your burning them off!) and my wifes got 31 on the interstae, and 24 around town. A dang Cobalt 4 cyl compact only gets 34!!
