Let's go for a scrape! err.. drive...
The scraping is insane on this car. After 2 weeks of ownership I've removed about 1/2 an inch off the underbody spoiler. Nothing else is damaged, but it seems like my front end dips way too much. My suspension is the base suspension, and I realize it's very soft and I'm working on correcting it, but is it really supposed to be this bad? Are all the roads in Michigan banked at 1 degree and smooth as glass? I scraped because of the banking on a freeway onramp!

The underbody spoiler is supposed to scrape... it diverts air up into the radiator cavity to help cool the motor. It also reduces front end lift. Trimming it is the wrong thing to do unless you lower the car over 2" or more.

Your scraping sounds a bit much to me, I have a 2008 and the only time it scraped was the first time I backed out of my driveway. After that I backed out almost parallel to the street and with the angle it did not scrape at all. Going forward on some very steep inclines and declines it has not scraped once. Probably not much help to you but maybe something else is going on with your suspension?

Adjust your driving habits. Certainly there are times where it will scrape and you can't control it. Know that the parts are designed with this in mind.
However, entering and exiting inclined parking lots, driveways and speed zones just requires you to adjust your driving.
The vette is a whole heck of a lot different in that circumstance than getting out of something like a typical sedan, or even a car like a mustang or camaro.

Mine scrapes going out of the driveway and severe dips ion roadways. It looks like the chin is replaceable. i hope so because mine will wear out at some point.

Mine is not lowered and it scrapes....lots! No biggie, after 8 C5's and now this C6 it's a part of life.

The owners manual mentions that the front spoiler will scrape. My 02 also scraped and so does my 08, with no ill effects. If you keep the car long enough you will have to replace the air dams.

I guess it's just a wear item.. it's kind of crazy though. I'm going to put stiffer springs in the car to help it out, because I do drive it fast and I need it to handle better anyway. I'll have to do the whole "angry customer" routine and see if I can get a new one before the springs go in

My 2002 (F22), my 2005 (Z51) and my 2008 (base) have all scraped about the same and it happens very frequently. It doesn't even bother me any more. It's just part of the deal. It is a cheap and easy piece to replace if it comes to that. I did have to replace the one on my 2002 when I hit a dead animal in a blind curve and ripped it off. And lost one of the side segments off my 2005. Unfortunately that piece is not shown on the dealer's computer so there was no way to order a replacement. This happened just two weeks before I had to turn the car in at the end of the lease so I just left it that way and nobody noticed it.
