Default Dealer Hassle... What do you think?

So last week I traded in my vette and bought a new Silverado. I told them I wanted to swap my full exhaust setup back to stock and sell the aftermarket one, besides you get more value when its back to stock.

I dropped off the stockers on Tuesday and called them yesterday wondering when I could get my exhaust back. They haven't touched it yet. The salesman told me the manager realized how much the labor was going to cost and thought it would be too expensive. They asked me if I would do the swap. Of course I can't use their bay or shop because of the liability so they are actually going to let me take it off the lot and either work on at the Base or in the Garage. Makes me a little nervous, but excited to get the car back for a weekend.

The exhaust swap was written on the "We Owe" when I purchased the car so should I just make them do it and hold up their end of the deal or should I take the car for the weekend and do the swap with a buddy?

Thanks!

I would either make the dealer do the swap (your contract is a legal document)...or discount your purchase car price the cost you incur by completing the swap...

I would not want to do it if they said doing it themselves was part of the deal. If you do it and anything at all happens to the car, they expect you to pay. Plus, I am sure they will be picky about any additional mileage you put on it. Just have them refund you some money that would be a fair price for the exhaust. Probably will not give you as much as if you sold it outright, but sure would be alot less hassle. I don't think a used exhaust system would bring that much money anyway.

You do not sound too upset about the dealers change of tune so if that is the case take the car for the weekend do the swap and enjpy the car for a couple more days.

The dealer expects you to uphold your end of the "We owe" contract, so why wouldn't you expect them to uphold their end on the swap? I would consider the liability you will take on if you do it now.

My thoughts exactly. Potential for complications even if change-out goes well for you. DON'T DO IT!

Yea the liability is the only thing that concerns me. I dont want something to go wrong or all of sudden they hear a funny noise and it comes back on me. I mean with the Z06 Headers, 3" X-pipe and Z06 Bullets, selling used it still nice chunk of change.

Take it to the local muffler shop and give the dealer the bill. Are they MORONS???An exhaust swap is not time consuming and one of the simplest mods to be done!!

...if the dealer is complaining about how much time and labor is involved to so a simple cat-back exhaust that's crazy. What..it might take them about an hour to do?

If you had agreed they would change it back I'd have them do it. If they refuse tell them just to forget the whole deal. I bet they'd make the swap.

BTW...sorry that you're losing a C6 for a Silverado.

Good luck!

If it were me, I'd try to get a monitary settlement. Things can go wrong when you swap, broken stud...ect. Take what they give you and move on to enjoy your new truck.IMO
