Default Stopped by Dealer to Look at 08's

Local dealer add about 12 vettes in stock. Stopped by to checkout the different colors. All colors were there except AO and AW. THE 07 LMB was my favorite and the lighter blues my least favorite. But I have to say that the JSB was very nice. I would be satisfied with CRM, VR, or JSB. While I was there someone asked to buy my 02 TR vert. Very tempting, he gave me his business card. A JSB 3LZ was there with the linen interior. I wish GM would offer a 4LT titanium two tone in 09. The leather wrapped dash really improved the interior.

I have always bought 2-3 year old vettes to minimize depreciation. But with the 08 improvements I've been looking at new. My ideal vette would be 08 CRM vert, NPP, Nav, Z51, chrome wheels, titanium two tone. Haven't found one in stock. And I haven't been able to get past the depreciation hit on a new one yet. If I wait much longer I will be looking at 09's.

Depreciation is only bad if you plan on dumping the car in the first 3 years. Now if you like to trade cars in every year like some people then it is better to go used.

I just "stopped by" my local dealer to look at the 4LT interior that he had. A week or so later I was ordering from Tim at Boardwalk. I would have bought the local dealer's car if they didn't want about $2500 over sticker and they were not willing to negotiate until I mentioned I found one for around invoice.

I have an o8 jet stream blue
Bought it outright and never plan to sell
Wouldn't care if I couldn't sell it for $1
It's worth every cent I paid for it to me
and that's what matters.

Someone asked me “why don’t you wait for a 09”?
1: The price will be higher
2: Why not wait for a 10?

If you find a good deal now and you’re ready to buy, I say buy one. Get Museum Delivery too if you have the time!

Check out my Museum Delivery
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1987914

Talk to some of the forum member dealers. I feel I got a great deal working with Tommy Jr. He made everything go so smooth. He took care of everything. He even included a 20 day tag.

Tommy had several deliveries at the Museum the week I was there. I ran into one of his customers at the hotel I was staying at. I noticed a NH 20 day tag on this Corvette and I asked him if he knew Tommy Jr.? He said yes, he bought from him… small world!

Tommy Jr. tommyjr@thompsonauto.net Tell him Ben from Ohio said Hi.

You should lease. That'll put you in new every 3,4,5 years with a minimal hit for depreciation.

Check the prices on '06 and '07 Vettes and you might be surprised at the depreciation. IMHO, it's not that bad. It's MUCH worse on more nondescript cars. My '06 Lucerne TANKED after the first year. Great car, but it's worth nothing when compared to what I paid for it. The Vette's current, used, retail value (using KBB or NADA) is worth about the same as what I paid for it last year (I did get the GM discount though).

Buy what you want if it fits your budget. Life is short. Amortize the depreciation over the miles of smiles.

I would say order the 2008 the way you want it, but do it very soon because the 2008 cutoff is the end of this month. I have a few allocations left for 2008 that aren't sold.

Hi, I prefer the BLK although the AO is GD Nice 2. BRK it up a little and add a NEW CLR to the INT. A Color like CHM or TTM. Just my 2C.

Keep waiting and you may have a reason then not to buy the car at all. The deals on the 08s are out there and you can still get what you want. I heard the 09 price will probably go up about another thousand or two. That all depends if the dealers are willing to sell you an 09 for the same price as an 08 + the difference. I would estimate around a $3k hit at least. The only way I wouldn't buy a Corvette now is if I was struggling to get enough money to buy what I wanted.

Hey - I have no plans on selling my 06. Still love it and it puts a smile on my face each time it purrs... You will be happy with the 08

Clever how those Chevy guys managed to make BOTH you and I happy with our car colors. And it's the first time in a lot of years that I've held onto a car for more than a year. Might make it a few years, since I can't replace my color.............
