suggestions for tinting rear window?
i had my rear window tinted and the company didn't charge me b/c they couldn't get the tint to go on properly around the dot matrix stuff...anyone else have this problem? i know the C6 is notorious for this problem but has anyone had any luck with a good tinter? if you're in the jersey/Pa area, let me know where you had it done...thanks a lot

I had the same problem The tinter wants to try and shave the tephlon pieces but I said no. It doesn't look that bad and it's still better then having the Florida sun beat down on the back of the car

I did not want to shave the dots nor did I want to have black vinyl placed on the rear glass. My tinter did a decent job but there is a small area at the very top of the glass (where the dots are most pronounced) that isn't 100% perfect. It doesn't detract from the appearance of the car (you really have to look for the imperfection to even notice it) so I don't worry about it. With the Arizona heat and sunshine I 'rubbed' the area over a week or two and eliminated most of it.

From the posts I've read in the past...
the tinting will look good with some heat and time.
Thought about tinting BUT
I want people to see me in my Vette.

Mine looks good, not perfect, but good. I did what my previous tinter told me to do. Get it professionally tinted and then, every day for the first week or two, let it sit in the sun and get the tint warm, then press the tint down between the dots with soft towel over your fingers. I had mine done at the dealer before taking delivery two years ago and then did that:

My tinter tried the regular way, wasn't happy with it after repeated sessions with low heat gun and extra pressing in the dot area. He DOES NOT like the idea of sanding or painting dots so he did black vinyl over the dot area. The vinyl will come off just like the tint, should I ever need to remove it. So there are no concerns about using vinyl .
I'm not sure if any tinter can do that back window 100% perfect, waaaay too many curves.

That's the trick. Especially the first week or so when the film is still wet. Heat it up (I just parked in the sun) the press the film into the dots with a goodly amount of pressure, press from the inside to the edge to squeeze out some of the trapped air. After a few times the film will stretch around the dots and look pretty good.
