You guys rule
Update:
I spoke with the lady at the front office afterwards and she informed me that the guy was not arrested. The officer understood that he was just having a rough day and called for somebody to pick him up. His car was left behind to be picked up later. I agree with you all in that he must have came to my car for a reason. Who knows what would have happened!
Hope the guy turns out okay.. everyone has there crappy days.

That dude has problems, the least of which is not being able to find his car. I hope he gets them worked out.
You did the right thing. Good on ya.

"In honor of jpee"
We've alrready seen one picture of a guy wrapped around a tree on Long Island I think. This guy, as OP said, most likely would not have made it anywhere without an accident.
If he ever finds you again, he owes you a big, big thank you. If I'm lyin', I'm flyin'.

About 25 years ago, I was driving from Houston back to College Station about midnight. I see a Blazer on the shoulder with a guy laying out in the middle of the road and a pool of liquid around him. This was a year or so after I drove up on a guy that was killed on the side of the road one night and it looked almost the same. So I woke up a guy who lived 1 mile down the road and had him call the Highway Patrol (no cell phones back then ).
I drove back to the scene. Turns out the guy was (extremely) drunk, pulled over to **** (did that part) and then passed out in the road.
It get's better - the engine in the Blazer was still running. So I get in and turn it off. It starts to roll back - damn near running over the guy. Turns out - it was in gear w/o the parking brake set. I quickly stepped on the brake and put it in park so no harm. But the guy was so drunk - he didn't even put it in park. The uphill grade was just right so that the vehicle stayed still.
Since none of us saw the guy driving - the trooper said he could not charge this Darwin candidate w/ DWI, but he could arrest him for PI so he still cuffed him and hauled him off. I like to think that I saved at least one life that night. The drunk appeared to be about 35 years old and was laying in the middle of the road (Hwy 105). He could have very easily been run over, or woke up, and continued driving. He was one F_ cked up driver.

There should be a lot more of this type of thing! Never understood how someone could let a friend drive when you know they are wasted. I'm a leo and have taken away plenty of car keys away from my friends because I want to see them again! There is nothing wrong with preventing anyone from driving drunk even if you have to call the police on them! You're doing them and everyone else a favor in the long run.... good job with that fellow.......
