Who Plays "Hide the Vette"?

I hate that the Corvette does effect what people think. I keep my garage door closed when people come to the house to do work or give me an estimate.
I'll give an example. I needed my visor stitched up after my DIY install of a Homelink garage door opener. I drove to an auto interior shop and was going to park down a ways, but unfortunately they saw me drive by. They gave me a quote of $25 for a 5 minute job. I went to another shop close by, parked way away, and walked in. They did the job for $8.

I agree! It's hard trying to negotiate a good deal, with the vette being in plain sight.

In the past I would try to hide it when the contractors came around, but when they see I have a 5 car garage.. I think they can figure it out.. Liv'n a dream

Just get a couple different quotes from different vendors and be sure to mention that you are doing so. Even if you dont, that tends to make their quotes a little more competitive.

I hide mine too when anyone comes to do work at my house. Even worse, I won't drive it to work (even though I have a reserved parking spot between two conscientious coworkers) because of what people will think. A few have spotted me anyway out driving in the evenings or weekends.

There are many other cars, trucks and SUV's that cost as much or more than many pay for a 1LTbase Vette. If I don't like a quote I use it as reference for the next guy and let him know if he wants the business he needs to beat it.
Wealthy people have a well deserved reputation of beating contractors down on pricing. Any contractor will tell you that. I guess that is why they are wealthy. LOL

Maybe it's just me, but I don't hide mine. I wasn't able to afford the vette by spending my money carelessly. Everything is negotiable. And if I they don't like it, I'll find someone else.
And yes, I do take my vette to Walmart.

I do not hide my Vette, as I find many times contractors and others will start talking cars with you as they themselves are car people. I find this does more good than harm. It certainly breaks the ice and I have not seen any negatives.

People tend to judge others based on "stereo typing". I have a c6, and a new street glide harley. the wife has a Lexus SUV and a fat boy harley. We live in a pretty nice home, built it 18 years ago, near the beach. BUT WE ARE NOT RICH! We just both work, make decent money and we have no children. But most people who don't know us "THINK" we are rich. All the items named above, belong to the bank, we just enjoy them. Well, the house is getting close to "paid for'. It does not take a lot of money to live comfortable, it just takes good credit and smart spending....

I dunno about this whole "rich" thing. They are Chevys after all. Lots of people have more expensive cars than my Corvette around here. Lots of people have cars they really can't afford too, and we all know it when we see it.
