Default Solution to my "creaking roof" problem ... noise free!

As I had noted in a few posts on this subject, my roof started making a creaking noise assw body flex starting at the 100 mile on the odometer mark out of Bowling Green. When I finished my trip from the museum and took the car in for PA inspections, I made mention of this to the Service Advisor and I asked for one of the Corvette technicians to accompany me in a ride-a-long. From my ears, the sound was coming from behind my head and to the left ... the mechanic thought he heard the noises coming from the dash area.

Today, I took the car in to see what could be determined. In my case, I'm happy to say that they were able to isolate and rectify the problem. After going thru and lubricating all the usual candidates, he checked under the A-pillar, and found what was described as excessive weld slag, which was rubbing up against the molding and causing the noise I was hearing. The mechanic simply filed down the slag, re-assembled everything, and I'm currently happy to say that my 5 1/2 week old car now sounds just like it did for the first 100 miles - absolutely devoid of any unintended sounds. I won't even begin to suggest that this is the problem with/solution for other 08's, but it sure has addressed the problem I was having on mine! Life is again good.

I'm surprised you didn't get the old "They all do that" line.
Good job!
Now post the name of the service dept. They earned it.

When someone gives me the "they all do that" line, I respond with, "they all need to be fixed then" line.
