The point where these holes are made there is no effect to the "back pressure" of the motor. As mentioned the NPP mufflers provide more HP and TQ when the valves are opened which provides an additional exhaust port for the air to escape. There is a reason that the exhausts that provide the bigger increase in performance are less restrictive and not more restrictive. Back Pressure and Scavenging are two different things.

I can honestly tell you there has been absolutely no loss of performance felt after doing this minor modification to the muffler.

I have a 2005 Z51 , the mufflers are stock dual tips & pipes on each side , not like the picture of dual tips into one pipe into muffler end .
so on mine where would you drill ?
also if I look into the end of each tip, looks like a baffle / wall , can you drill through that and get some extra noise
pictures of this style muffler mod would help , info please

Can you take a picture of your mufflers please? The stock 2005 muffler should not have a baffle or wall. Did you get your 2005 users? Possible previous owner installed the NPP muffler.

I am confused now. Your previous post mentioned you see a baffle/wall but now you are saying there is no baffle. I think it would be best for you to take a picture of your muffler and post it. This way we can see what you actually have.

from what I have seen of 2005 factory mufflers they have one exit pipe split into 2 tips for each side
mine are 2 exit pipes 2 tips for each side , mufflers are pretty much large round polished [ not at all oval ] no markings on sides or botton , can't see tops
kinda look like Borla , but round mufflers
ok,,, baffle's are not movable /rotating type ,,,but like solid baffle at the end of each pipe at the muffler opening 10" in from end of tips
will take pictures and post

Those aren't baffles. I don't see any way to remove the metal strips back at the can area. The tips are similar to bullets but definitely are not. I've seen a lot of Corvette exhaust systems but never this one.

pictures are deceiving, inside / looking up the tip /tubes where the tube meets the body of the muffler there is a metal wall / baffle .look at last picture , see the yellow reflection area, that is metal / baffle ,, these were most likely put on by the original owner, this is a 05 Z51 , so the mufflers could be that old ? but car has 50,000 miles now i'm the 2nd owner , he is long gone dead,,,

I see a something back at the cans but it’s certainly not something you can get to easily.

This is only a guess but it looks like an older version of the B&B PRT exhaust. I believe their first gen of the PRT were just like that. 4 tips individually welded to the mufflers. The more recent version of the PRT has a single Y pipe connection to split into 2 tips per muffler.

Below is a picture of the older style PRT

This is the current PRT

I recommend you start a new post as this one is for modding the stock muffler.
