How did it happen? Being a powertrain component... isn't that still under warranty?

Maybe it expired? I'm wondering how it broke though

You should go to the for sale section and post something up there too.

must be an '05, which would explain why it's not under warranty. I think the 05's had weaker half-axles and were prone to breaking...

The bumper-to-bumper warranty might have expired. But wouldn't axles be covered under the powertrain warranty?

IF...you have an 05 and its out of warranty, and IF...axels on 05's were prone to break. ( search this forum and print up some posts). I would go to my service advisor at the dealership, and show him the posts, remind him of how many GM vehicles I have at home and have him call GM and recommend that GM give me a one-time courtsey repair.

I've had 4 window regulators on my Buick LeSabre (one at a time), and a window regulator on my 7 year old C5 with 45k miles on the clock.

If the car is performance modded... its all on you.

The dealership price quoted probably includes labor which is the majority of the repair cost.

No way of knowing without any profile information from the OP. It might be a modified C6 from any model year. It may have broken at the drag strip. I don't know that the '05 half-shafts were necessarily prone to breaking but the differential was slightly changed after '05.

The standard extended powertrain warranty didn't exist until MY 2007.

I would call Chevrolet, sometimes they have hidden warranties on certain failure prone components. Its worth the try.

, what I don't understand is why members don't fill out their profiles with their legit information, do they have something to hide?
