Recommendations for Bras
I'm getting ready for a 3-4000 mile trip in Feb. Going south, all the way to Key West. I need protection from all the road debris. I've used the stretch bra on my '04 on long trips. It protects against small stuff but not anything larger than a small pebble. I'm thinking about the GM bra. How is the installation? What happens when it gets wet? Any chance of road grime getting under it? Do you have to take it off to wash your car?
Any help would be appreciated.

i used a GM bra on my 03 Z06 and it worked just fine. i wouldn't leave it on if it was wet and then turned sunny/hot but thats just me. also the GM bra will take a pretty fair sized stone to damage anything plus they are cheap. i plan on buying another for the new car.

Bras
Bras cause paint damage over time because theres always slight movement of the unit no matter how tight it is. On my new 07 I had the 3-M product applied. Looks good and haven't had a mark with over 12000 miles. But this product is only as good as the installer. Have it done professionally. Good luck on whichever.

When I got my 05 C6 I planed ahead and had 3M clear bra installed for local driving...and when I hit the road I also put on the Colgon which will stop any big chunks of road "mines" from cutting thru the 3M bra and reaching the paint. Gets rid of the worry of any grit scratching the paint should I drive in the rain.

The GM and Colgan are the two bras I recommend. I currently use the GM bra and though it takes a little time to install (about 30 minutes the first time and 5-10 minutes after that) it fits very well and stays put at highway speeds. I remove it with each washing and clean the felt backing and allow it to drip-dry. I also do not leave it on the car after a rain.

I used Speed Lingerie on my C5 for 8 years and have about 63K miles using it. I take it off for car shows and still place in the top 3. I have no damage or wear to the paint. I also have no paint chips as do some of my anti-bra friends do. It was money well spent. As far as removal to avoid getting it wet, it is not a problem. Sometimes I do and sometimes I don't. Getting it wet is nothing to panic about.
Yes, after 8 years of use I did get a 1/2" long scuff mark near each side light. However, a bit of Zaino Z5 cover that up just fine. Even if I wasn't able to remove those scuff marks, they were hardly noticeable and sure looked a lot better then paint chips.

I tried the Colgan Bra and the Southern Car Parts alternative. As I'm writing this, I'm sitting in Road Block of NJ getting a Clear Bra installed. Just got tired of the way the black bras looked on my vert. CHeck out Autobahnd/Road Block. THey offer a Lifetime warranty and the install for just the front bumper cost me $350.

The GM bra fits great and is not much $$$ About $79.00 i think I have one for C-5 and C-6 real happy with them, who wants to spend $500 or $600 for a bra thats seldom used?

I have used the GM bra on our C5, and now one on our C6, for many thousands on cross-country miles and have never had any damage. The best true protection for the money.

i have left the GM bra on my corvette for a week at a time on long road trips and some of these trips i have run thru rain, never took it off, and it left no marks of any kind on my 05 C-6.apply several coats of wax before installing the bra. i have the 3M type on my 08 C-6 BUT i will still put on the GM bra for long and extended road trips where you have no control over where you have to drive

Having the speed lingerie bra, I do NOT recommend them. Way to expensive and I have seen colgan bras that look better when on and cost hundreds less than SL. Just my $.02
