I once ran out in the Nevada desert, 30 miles from the nearest pump (Wells,Nevada) at 5A.M. Waited two hours before another car showed up and I could hitch a ride. Never, Never Again! I start looking when it gets to the 1/4 mark at the latest.

Personally, I'm glad to see the confirmation of what the owners manual states. 1st fill up took 15.5 gallons, and 2nd fill up took 16.6 gallons (Low Fuel message had just come up on DIC) ... and the 2nd fill up included squeezing an additional 1.2 gallons after pump shut-off. Nice to know how the DIC actually equates to gallon(s) to empty.

I have never come close to that and I have gotten the low fuel warning. At those prices you would like to know that you are getting what you pay for!!!

Default you were close!

The tanks actually hold just under 18.5 if I recall correctly but GM always rounds down to the next 1/2 gallon.

And I believe they only advertise usable fuel load. That is whatever the system runs out at then the fuel needed to fill full is the usable fuel load.

The amount of unusable fuel in the Corvette is unbelievably low. 280 ml of fuel in both tanks combined! That is just over half a bottle of soda, or maybe 10 fluid oz!

The pump is also in fuel up to the last second so the damage from running out is really a myth now a days.

, I like to top off my tank after each drive. The other reason for this is because I don't want a fingerprint on my fuel filler door. After I top off I go home and clean the black beauty.
