Rick @ Les Stanford order process
I see this has been covered many times before however for potential new buyers it may be useful info.
In the process of ordering a 2008 I perused all the sites and read up on all the supporting dealers, checked their websites and searched the web for any service related posts. When I was ready to order I shot off an email to each supporting dealer and Rick Daniels was the first to reply with a price offer.
After receiving his price I went onto the Jeff Hardy Site and found 8 cars matching my requirements allready on dealer lots in the US. I then in turn offered each dealer the same price (transportation not included). Several Dealers responded and several did not. No one could match the price. One dealer in Atlanta offered me a new 2007 for the price.
So I ordered through Rick and I can say the process was a great experience. He answered all my questions. Gave me a firm price by email. Worked the courtesy delivery with the local dealer. And the process was quick, painless, and I would reccommend it to anyone.
His price included courtesy delivery charge and doc fee. In addition at local dealer I had to pay a 250$ prep fee, Tax and title. No other hidden charges.
After receiving the price quote I went onto his site and filled out the custom order form providing a down payment of 1000$ with my credit card. A sales order was emailed to me the same day. I followed the build process by simply clicking on the "customer tracking button" on his site. The rest of the process went like this.
Day 1 - Ordered car (Oct 8)
Day 8 - Car received TPW of 11/12
Day 14 - went to 3000
Day 24 - went to 3300
Day 32 - went to 3400
Day 35 - car built - 3800 (11/14)
Day 38 - Received all papers to be completed for purchase and returned them Fedex overnight
Day 42 - vehicle arrived local dealer
Day 43 - Picked up vehicle - Nov 20th
As I was a cash customer no loan involved. Only required paperwork was sent to me, no bs paperwork like GMAC application. Local dealer did a great job prepping and delivered car to me with 3 miles on odo and full tank of gas! (even during Thanksgiving week). Thanks again Rick & Michelle!

I'm one of those customers too. Buying my '07 from Rick was litterally the easiest car purchase that I've ever done. Not forgetting Michelle who probably does a whole lot to insure that everything happens as its supposed too. In my case, I also did the R8C Museum Delivery which added more complexity to the equation, but it was perfect!

The courtesy fee is paid because the dealer taking the car is really not getting anything out of this. So this is something to make it worth their while. The prep fee you have to do regardless to actually get the car into a delivery state. These are two legitimate fees in my opinion.
For my delivery, which was done as a courtesy as well, the fee was paid for by the broker I used to get the car in the first place (Ken at VetteNet). This was back in late '04 early '05.

Rick and Michelle were both great to deal with. Everything was "as advertised" with no surprises. He said something to me that I have said to my clients - problems can occur, nothing is perfect. However, he and Michelle and others a Les Stanford have their act together. That means less chance of problems.

Seeing how the prices are high in Hawaii ordering through dealers like Les Sanford makes the prices great as long as the car is an ordered vehicle the shipping is free to the Hawaii dealer.
Now to see if I should get the 08 ZO6.

Rick was great to work with. I pre-ordered my 2008 with Rick early this spring. I told him I needed (yes, needed) a Jetstream Blue as soon as they began production. As some of you may remember, there were restraints on the JSBlue for the first few weeks. Rick managed to get a JSBlue allocation very early on, and it ended up being the very first R8C JSBlue delivery. The entire process was effortless on my part, and there were no issues with the entire process, even with my being out here in California. Great work Rick!

I paid the delivery fee that we all pay regardless of where you get your car, even the museum, becuase they deliver it from factory to museum or factory to any dealer. This is a GM standard $500.
The courtesy fee is paid to the delivery dealer, b/c as said, they get nothing out of the deal but having to recieve and prep the car. Not all dealers will take a courtesy delivery and the charges I found range from $250 to $500.

I understand that dealers who accept courtesy deliveries will do so only upon being paid a "courtesy delivery fee"; I find nothing unreasonable about that. My only question involved the fact that in this case they were charging 2 separate fees - one to handle the courtesy delivery and another to prep the car. I was of the impression that the "courtesy delivery fee" covered everything (including PDI). As I stated, in the end it doesn't matter how they break it down as long as the total amount is reasonable. To me, $500 to cover everything is reasonable.
