There's Sweet, and then There's This...
Here's a picture of Ed Swaneck's 1957 and 2007 Corvettes. Ed is the gentleman who repairs the mirrors that break away and flop in the wind on the 97-early 98 C5's. Notice where they're parked. Is this cool or what?! He actually walked the 2007 down the assembly line and got to sign the bell housing and the frame during the assembly. It took 10 hours and he says it was a dream come true. But here's the kicker: both cars have the same exact VIN numbers! He said it took 2 years to get the factory to do so! Factory manager Will Cooksey said that they never follow VIN numbers, only job numbers.
This is truly a one of a kind and Ed said that I could share it with the forum. It's a real warm and fuzzy thing that if you could give as a present, it would be on someone's 50th anniversary of marriage. This is just way cool and I had to share. It actually chokes me up a tad. Geesh, I'm getting sentimental in my semi-old age!
One of a kind photo. You gotta love it.

I have a friend who has a '57 and an '07. He tried desperately to get the factory to give him the same VIN number and was told its impossible. Someone pulled some serious strings to make this happen.
I'm not sure if I want my friend to see this thread or not - he may go nuclear on the people who told him it could not be done (he worked on it for a year as well). He did wind up buying the '07 the same color even though the VINs are different.
Nice picture though.

That's very cool....I like things like that. I bought a matched pair of Single Action Colt .45's and had Colt personalize the serial numbers using only my last name, however, even Colt had to use 1 and 2 after my name.
I think your friend has something quite special.
