Question about Calipers
I'm not a mechanical guy. What is the purpose of calipers on wheels? What do they do? Also not sure about the buzz about different colors, why have them in colors? Is it just for accent color or why not just paint the entire wheel? Thx.

painting calipers is purely cosmetic. not sure where it started, but red is the predominant color of choice.

The caliper is part of the brake system. It houses the brake pads along with the pistons and hydraulics required to press the brake pads against the brake rotors to cause the braking action.
Here's a good illustration:

The choice of painting the calipers only and the choice of colors is simply a personal preference type thing. Your Vette, your choice.
