Test Drove 2008 today...observations.
It was an A6 Vert, stock (no F55 or Z51), but with the new exhaust and the 2.73 gear.
First observation was funny. They actually printed "engine" on the ignition start, just under the "green circle of life". Looks like an after thought. I guess stupid people were complaining.
Honestly, this is the first true c6. It sounds and drives like a vette should.
The exhaust is sweet! those of you wondering if the money is worth it for a factory exhaust...it is nice. No kidding around. Sounds nice as soon as you fire up. Almost non-existent while cruising with the top off, but really opens up (literally) when you get on it.
however, if you are worried about scaring the wife, take a pass on the extra 6hp.
Did not notice any huge difference with the A6 "timing" or shorter time on shifting...still lags. Might consider going back to a mn6.
The LS3/exhaust/Gear add up to a VERY noticable power increase. No pondering if you feel something or not...its there.
Really like the new center console. Very slick.

Right up until the 2009 comes out. Then that will be the first true C6.
Everyone always loves the newest.
Would have to agree on the exhaust comment...anything is a step up from the Honda Civic stock exhaust on these things.
And also agree on the console. Just ordered one from Gene. Saves $15,000.

Good to hear there is a noticeable power increase.
The LS3 seems to be the real deal for sure.
I still think some people need to choose their comments better,
"this is the 1st true C6'???
C'mon now, inflammatory comments are not needed.
I'll bet you my fake LS2 equipped C6 base manual 3lt Vert will pull away from alot of automatic LS3s from a roll in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gears, however I would not bet against the manual LS3, well maybe if the driver is barefoot and has a broken right arm.
And, the sweet sound of Borlas on a top down cruise are what makes my car a REAL C6
Nothing sounds like it, NOTHING!
12.5 timeslips are not bad either.
I think you will find many of the LS3 cars struggling to hit 12.5s.
I've done it in my 2005 A4 Vert and my previous 2006 C6 manual coupe.
I also think some LS3s will struggle, but hit 11.9s!
Please people, show some class, we all own Vettes we don't all own LS1s, LS2s, LS3s, LS6s or LS7s, however I would be proud to own any of them.

Burning Brakes
I guess I was ahead of the power curve on this one. I sold my fake '06 C6 and purchased an '07 Vert only to find out it's not real either. Oh well, back to the dealership for an '08. I sure hope this doesn't happen again when the "real" '09 comes out. You win some and then again you lose some!

Since I am coming from the Cobra replica world where there are numeorus arguments over the Shelby continuation series being real or not, when I ordered my C6, I ordered a replica C6 , it's much cheaper that way and looks like the real thing, but had a Ford engine and I have to build it myself!

Melting Slicks
I think the implication here was that the 05-07 C6 was considered only to be the C5.5 by many members of the automotive press and that the LS1 maybe was more impressive in its' time than was the LS2 was in its' time.
Since he has owned both the LS2 and now the LS3, his observations have merit whether those observations are liked or not. In other words, allow the man his joy of his new toy

Don't take offense (hard to request, since I think you already have)
Sincerely, I consider the Z06 in a class on its own.
I think some of the z06 mojo is finally rubbing off on the stock corvette...that is more inline with what I was commenting on.
