Default I was VERY surprised......

...when I took my 2007 C6 Coupe out for a spin this evening. With it's dinosaur engine, steering and 6 sp manual, I was expecting to be bored.

Imagine my surprise when I realized it looked great, handled fantastic, and had waaaaay more power than I could use around here!

I guess the rumor of the 05-07 C6's demise have been greatly exaggerated!

My last Vette - a C5 - had an even more deficient engine but still more than enough to get oneself in very serious trouble! Also, if I had a 53-54 C1 I would have to live with 2 missing cylinders (but I bet I could deal with that, too!!!) All Vettes are good - enjoy.

Yep, I guess I'll enjoy my 07 'til the C7 or the Z06 if it's not considerably more expensive in several years.

I've only seen a few people (seriously) imply that the LS2's are obsolete. And frankly, I don't think they even own a Corvette

I don't think they will ever make a Vette with more power than I've got now. I love the way it looks and sounds. How cool is it to have a car with over 585rwhp and still get 32mpg on the highway, with the tunes blasting and the air blowing cold. Sure beats the old '60s cars.

Gene,
Any quarter mile times with that beast of an engine?

My real reason for swapping for an 08 is the fact I want to change to a manual and I want F55. The new engine is certainly welcome in my garage, but it is not my real reason. I guess my other BIG reason is because I am getting a deal I simply cannot refuse.

As far as my 07 goes, it is a FANTASTIC car. I have zero complaints about the LS2. I just want to try a little different set up.

Sad to say I had a similar experience this past weekend. After reading all the posts regarding the '08 models, I figured my '07 was little more than a blip on the radar screen of "Legendary Corvette Milestones" so figured, what the heck. I'm going to drive this thing hard from now on. Apprently it's destined for obscurity in the pantheon of "truly amazing Corvettes" anyway.

How come no one told me this "antique" had 3 more gears than I had assumed and was so fast? Gets pretty good mileage too, apparently. I was going to trade it in on a car that fits my lifestyle better, but the local Buick dealer closed early for a new car introduction at the local Country Buffet.

I think I'll keep my old undesirable "puny" C6 a while longer just to see what other features I might find. My neighbor tells me the top comes off, but I can't seem to find the right button. At least the glove box in the '07 models holds more "Depends" than the earlier ones.

Anyone know how I can fit my 98 RPM vinyl Glenn Miller recordings into that narrow slot above the radio?

I'm glad you're still happy David. God knows I love my car and get reminded everytime I take her out. I come to the forum and get geared up for an '08 and then drive my '05 and fall in love again. It's so nice to have such troubles.

I couldn't figure out how to get my albums to play so I just listen to 8-tracks.

Radio!? You got a Radio? You must have ordered the OT3 package (old timer's option #3) that included the heater and the compass mounted on the dashboard. Wow! You might have a collector's item there.

Did you by chance also get the under-dash Kleenex dispenser?
