It depends on whether you car about having a closed vs open car? I like drop tops, so I'd pass on the Z myself.

You have a 'new' 2007 C6 and you already want to trade it in....I'm always amazed when people do this but it's your money and if you want a Z06...go for it.

I'm sure you'll find lots of dealers willing to help you out. Good luck!

I'm not just aching to trade but there's something about the Z06 that's telling me to get one.

One of the downfall's (if you can call it that) is the NON-removable roof panel

Thanks for the input

If taking the depreciation hit on the '07 doesn't hurt your wallet than go for it. Corvetteconti was advertising 4K off of a Z06 in the dealer section last week. I think discounts on the Z06 will become more common and grow (albeit slowly) over time. I wouldn't do it, but that''s because it would hurt me too much financially right now. Next year? Who knows?!? Go drive around in your '07 and think about it for a while!

i think the key is AS LONG AS YOU CAN AFFORD IT, GO FOR WHAT YOUR HEART DESIRES , but if you'll have problems in the long run, i say NO. It's all about the dough

If you have the money I say do it, C6 coupe to Z06 is gonna be worth it.

I've had two coupes and removing the targa was a PITA, so much so that I didn't do it very often.

Now, Vert to Z06 is a little tougher decision, I've thought about it, but I just can't justify using the extra 105hp as much as I use my convertible top, which is every time I drive the car even for 5 minutes.

Good luck with the decision,

Howard

IMO, IF you think you're running out of horsepower and/or handling limits of your C6, then yes.

If it's 'the Z look' that you're after and the 9-10/10th's performance improvement isn't critical, I'd recommend putting a Z body kit and wheels on your car.

You're going to get killed on first year depreciation and pay another $30K or so for the pleasure.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad I got my Z, but I came from a C5, not a Z51 C6.

You may have less expensive options.

YMMV

This I really dont get... You just bought the 07' and you want to trade it in for a Z06? What does the Z have that you want? If its speed and performance then just invest in some mods to your 07' and you might not spend as much.

I understand completely.

I bought a 2005 C6 Vert in 9/05, I still have it.

I bought a 2006 C6 manual coupe in 7/06, traded it in on a 2007 C6 A6 coupe in 12/06, and traded that in on a LEFTOVER 2006 C6 Vert manual tranny in 5/07.

I'll never be rich this way, but it sure is FUN!

What keeps me away from trading my 07 Z51 in on a Z06 is the fixed roof.. So I'm going to try to bolt on a 100hp (starting this week)..

The C6 Z06 is a completely different machine .. it's more than just an extra 105hp and wide wheels that causes some of us to do insane things like trading in our perfectly good 3 month old C6's.. I think it would cost less than 15k to do widebody conversion and bolt on 100hp.. for me that puts me at the 60k investment point.. but I could get a used C6z for
63k... hmmm... I don't know, maybe I should just trade up and not mess up a perfectly good z51..

did someone mention insanity???

The financial bath you're going to take can be spent on mods if you're wanting Z performance. But it's only money, and it's your car. Does it really matter what the rest of us think?

Have you taken a high performance driving course with your current Corvette? Do you plan on tracking the car? If not spend the money at one. A stock Z51 C6 has more performance than 99% of what has ever been made to drive on public roads. Honestly the stock C6 is so beyond most people's driving capabilities and you can't even use half of it's potential on public streets without being completely wreckless...I don't see what the point of owning a Z06 is unless you are actually going to race it. If you use your car for roadtrips etc I would actually prefer the regular C6. But if you really want it, go for it...

If it won't bother you financially,go for it. I traded in a C6 last year I planned on keeping until the Z06 prices stabilized.........2 months later I found one at sticker(which at the time was unheard of on an in stock unit) & actually got within $500.00 of what I bought the coupe for on trade-in. I promise if you do it,you'll never look back.
