What did you pay for Courtesy Delivery?
#2
oh that is a incredible rip off I paid 150 which is reasonable. They do the pre sale prep Wash car( and add some nice swirls while doing it) remove the plastic and install any and all pieces that are not installed by the factory. Supposed to gas it up( mine did not) show you how things work( mine did not but that is okay I new already) and check fluids . I suspect they are trying to punish you for not buying form them at there crappy local prices. check another dealer and contact the fleet guy and ask him I bet you can get a better price

He will need to receive the car and take responsibility for it until you pick it up. Anything that he misses (wrong) about the car that you find he will have to handle the admistration of the reparation. With that said, $1,000 is an absolute attempt at robbery. He is trying to make up for profit (holdback) that he didn't get because you bought the car from someone else. He still needs to complete the PDI on the car that he would have had he sold it to you. It seems that most pay between $250-$500. If he will not negotiate on this price you might consider a different dealer. You could buy from a forum dealer and likely have it shipped to you for less money. I've attached a copy of the PDI form that they used last year.

It all depends the area you live in and the manager at the time.
If there is a special car, We get paid $300 from GM directly, on top of the 1 labor hour for PDI. We even get reimbursed for gas and all that good stuff.
I don't accept fleet courtesy's anymore because they are more hassle than anything and not worth the $200-$250 bucks they offer, but I will do them on special ocasion for customers.

I think between $300 and $500 is normal. Some members don't let the receiving dealer remove all the plastic. The museum removed mine and gave it to me and I have it stored in the attic. My wife thinks I'm pretty strange. When I sold my 70 the buyer loved those kind of things.

$1K!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! You're biggest problem now is where you will get service because it sure shouldn't be that clown. When you order from one of the forum dealers just get Museum Delivery and pocket the extra $500 to really enjoy the trip home.
A dealer who understood that service is a profit center would pay YOU to do the delivery just to get you in there to show you how good they treat you. Most would rather take a few hundred up front knowing they have you captive because you don't know any better. Unfortunately for them, hopefully you do now.

The guy who delivered it was clueless - a car salesman for 30+ years - that explains it!
Never let me see the "check over" list until everything was done, signed, sealed and delivered. Then he said "here's some other papers" which had the "Check over" list in it. I'm a math teacher and I'm almost positive he calculated the $ owed to him (for taxes etc) incorrectly!
He did not go over a single feature on the car with me.
He did note one scratch I found on the car on the paperwork w/ the #'s on it, but not on the check off sheet. I fixed it myself, but now have found a funny "swirl/smudge" mark that won't come out, on one of the rear fenders! Don't know what to do - don't think I want this dealer touching my car! PM me re: who the dealer is if interested
Any San Diego members have any recommendations?
Final thoughts = My dealer MacMulkin - awesome
= My "Courtesy" (big irony here) delivery - sucked

Museum will probably give you a better PDI and for 490 plus a flight you are there, Even with gas on the way home, you will likely come out under 1000. I understand around here in south florida, you can get the courtesy delivery done for about 350. So I figured for the 500 or so total extra dollars with flight and gas that I might as well do the Museum delivery.

My search is expanding to neighboring towns that usually only deal with trucks and a few cars.
