If you can afford it, respect it, drive it, BUY IT!! I've had mine about 2 weeks, I'm 31 and look in the garage everyday to make sure it really is mine!! THANKS FOR EVERYTHING YOU DO IN AFGHAN!!

I am picking up my first Corvette 1 month prior to my 30th birthday. For me it's a long awaited dream that is finally coming true.
As for the age, I agree with many here. If you can afford it, you're not to young.
BTW Jason, I'm just down the street from you in Bagram. Small world!

For all the young guys...
Come on guys, lets be honest (specifically the 18-20yr old) buying their brand new vette cash, or huge chunks of money down or NO help from parents or some other source. Lets just break it down, ok you've worked since 16 or 14 or whatever the age....and you saved up all this money to buy a brand new vette? AND that money you saved, you were investing it and making a couple grand a month off that? AND you were making $15-20/hr!....part-time!?! at 14-18ish?!! WOW!.......At that age, more than likely you were making $5-10/hr (if you were/are extremely lucky), and you were more concentrated on buying cd's or a fart pipe for your civic.... or trying to con your older brother into getting you and your buddies beer than saving every penny and investing it into stocks making you that 1-2K a month for that vette you plan on buying in a couple of years! Well ok, you saved a little and now your 18 or outta highschool and now you make $10-15/hr fulltime (if your lucky) or your going to college working part-time at Subway, and yup you just bought your new vette without the help of your parents!? A first-time buyer for a car and your going for the vette only to have that nice salesman tell you, "great! when can your parents come co-sign for you? Unfortunately, no banks can finance you 45K with no credit history." "oh, you have 10K down? well great, that'll help, but your payment will still be 800/mo because you have a 10% interest rate because you have no credit, so when did you say your parents can come in?" "but you dont want them to co-sign you say? well unfortunately your gonna have to because your income is to low because you can only finance 40% of your income" (another variable) "you have these student loans for college and you only work part-time"......Not trying to flame...just dont buy it...maybe its all true for some of you....but i also know what I said, is true for some of you truth stretchers...I myself got my C5 at 20, but with the co-sign of pops....the whole point of all this...just be honest, its ok to get help or have payments even if they are high. And its also ok if you got it bought FOR you, theres no shame in it, just less gratitude. I dont care if your 50, if your dad buys you a corvette for your 50th birthday party...are you gonna turn it down? Didnt think so....Oh, and no...there is no age to young to own (or have) a Vette

No age is to early to enjoy this car!

After reading an article in VETTE magazine it was brought to my attention that some people believe that there is a certain age (and above) that one shhould own a Corvette. Seeing as i am 23 i wanted to hear what fellow Corvette forum members think about this subject.

I was 21 when I got my first one... alot of it I feel has to do with maturity and respect for what the car can do... Im 38 now and have my 8th one on order.....
Ive worked hard for all of them and that allows me to value them more....it all comes down to the person.....

Vette's have always been admired by me sincve I was very young. I couldn't afford one then so I found a wreck and built it. If you can afford the insurance and the car at a young age then you are one of the fortunate ones, because a Corvette is a top performing car while being civilized enough for daily driving and for those who can't quite afford a new one can pick up a great used one very reasonable.
I am 34yo and have owned a Vette for 15 years. Of course I had to build it myself, but now I am looking at a good used C6 for my 29 year old wife.

Whoa... I am sure that other owners in my age range will chime in, but i can tell you that my parents had nothing to do with the purchase of my corvette (although they did help me buy a car in high school. A new ford Ranger) They also dont like the fact thai spent thatuch money on a vehicle = a mode of transportation. (they dont understand the fun factor) My car is also not leased. I did not pay for it all the way however because i need the credit history that making car payments adds. Lastly i use USAA for insurance, and their rates are pretty good. Financialy speking, buying my corvette really wasnt that big of a deal for me. I was asking about age more from an acceptance point of view. I know that there are a lot of corvette clubs out there, and corvette gatherings and i would assume that most of the participants are over 35. Just wanted to get a feel for how you guys would feel about a 20somethiing year old joining in on the fun.
As for Corvette driving schools, they are all over. I don't know what is or is not supported by CF, but I will mention a few. There is a school is Savannah that seems close to you (when you are not in Afg). You can rent their stuff and learn at the same time. Same with Spring Mtn in Pahrump. You could always take yours to Road Atl or VIR to get started or even AutoX a few times to learn the car. All very fun stuff and the reason many of us own Corvetttes.
