Default My DIY 39 LED brake light HIGH mount w blinkers

Was reading quite a number of threads about rear ended--wanted to reduce the chances

I looked at all the vendors brake light mods. I wanted a higher one. You know, one that a SUV right behind you can see while talking on their cell phone, drinking a coke and driving. My coupe is lowered so brake lights and blinkers are even harder to see.

Its not for everyone. If any are interested I will put a Install together, but for now pics. There are only 2 holes in the roof panel, see arrow. The extend bolts are 2.5". Made from alum from Home Dep, red and orange LED's from HongKong orange for blinkers. I have it functional now.--next is to make it look like it came on the car

I have my back window tinted, and it looks like you do as well. How do those lights work with your tint? Can you still see them from behind?

It's a nice idea but don't you get a ton of reflective light with the hatch shut as you look out the rear and apply the brakes? Also to save much of the work they sell simple very bright LED strips like that.

That's a lot of wiring, did you wire each LED?

For the guts to put this, but not for me sorry.

looks like when I tried to put 1 led in each honeycomb on my 98 TransAm's taillights. btw, there were 168 per side I was going to use them as a low-res display so I could scroll words across them.

This is actually pretty badass. Why didn't this get more props? Wired all that up yourself? Badass man, hope you're still rocking it 5 years later.

LEDs are so bright that they can be seen thru the tint. Only one has gone out in 5 years. If i had it to do over again, i would have done the strip. 5 years later the strips are really nice

don't want to get rear ended either....i like the idea....i might consider something if it were plug and play..

i've been thinking about some sort of full time DRL in the back to help stop a rear end

nice job with the led's

Interesting effort.

Just curious, how did you isolate the turn signal circuit for your orange LED's?

You could obviously use the OEM CHMSL for the brake light but the turn signals are tied to the brakes in the rear and the DRL's in the front.

How in the world does the car needs more lights!? it's already got four round lights plus the rear third light, and on top of that his car is RED! anyone who can't spot the car from half a mile shouldn't be allowed to drive.

true .......but it's only true if your're foots is on the brakes, or you're lights are on.....other wise the back of C6's is a little hard to notice at times...so low to the ground and are easy from the back, to not get noticed right away...IMO....

and i also agree....many should not be allowed to drive,,,,,,but they are and they are not nearly as "intune with the road" as corvette drivers. we see everything..........
