Maybe......not
Take a look at this site. Their info seems to be a bit different than yours.
Hmmm... an Corvette with an automatic, or a 997 GT3..... that is a tough decision......

Can you shift????
Porsche times are tough to get consistantly. Practice launching. Just because they say it can be done, doesn't mean you can do it.......

I'm just going by the numbers quoted in the back of Car and Driver.....April '07 page 144....the part of the article was in regards to the "street start" (rolling 5-60 mph), not 0-60 times.....the GT3 does 0-60 in 3.8 according to them when launched from 6000 rpm.....they were saying with a gradual clutch engagement at moderate throttle at 5-60 is 5.0 seconds, while the vette is 4.6.....

To me the difference is major ... the price of those 2 cars is very different ... both have their positives ...
The GT3 package is what the Z06 package is ... a performance package for the base 911 ... like said before ... GT3 vs C6A6 ... apples ... oranges.

Me, personally, If I spent 100g's on a car, that thing better fly..I don't think most people who buy a GT3 do it for the quality of the build, but I could be wrong..

The 911 GT3 does 0 to 60 in 3.8 when launched at 6000 RPMs!! Holy sh*t....I couldn't even imagine launching my car at anywhere close to 6000 RPMs. Even if I could avoid fragging my drive-train I'd be spinning my tires all the way through 3rd gear...and still at the 60' mark.

i had a red gt3 for 6 months last year....great car, fast and handled well but lacked torque....really had to rev it hard to get going.
the vette feels more special....tho maybe thats cos is very rare here where theres litterly hundreds of porsches......
