C6 HP vs Exotics
Interesting observation. I was driving on the turnpike today and decided to have a little fun. I never exceeded the speed limit by more then 5 or ten miles, but within the boundries of the law I decided to turn off the traction control and have some fun. What I'm talking about are accelerations between 55-80, 35-60....etc.
OK, Most of you guys know that I've owned some exotics, last of which was an 06 Gallardo Spider. 500 HP, 380 something LB/FT of torque. As I was driving today I realized that my base Vette in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear would have eaten the lambo alive. Especially in 2nd. I had to be carfull not to pull rubber. I'd never driven without the traction control on for a prolonged period of time. WOW, what a treat.
My point is this: I think the HP ratings are all BS. I'd love to see the Lambo Dyno'd. Based on my experience with both Gallardo's, and the three 360's I've owned, the Vette would take them all hands down.
I used to say the opposite, but that was before I ran the C6 with out the Traction Control. Just amazing. I never realized how powerful the base car is.

Gallardo has less torque and more weight...

360 - almost the same weight, same HP, lots less torque. Could that be why the "seat of the pants" feeling is so different? That's always been my complaint about high HP/low torque engines... they just don't have the same feel.
It's nice to have confirmation someone who's lived with them that the Vette keeps up with the exotics - and there's no comparison in the smiles per $ factor!

Good to know Steve, I don't feel too bad now that I can't afford a Ferrari or Lambo.

All this time,I never fooled with the traction control,I thought my car was mildly fast,I will try this tomorrow and see if there is a difference.

What kind of crap is this? What has this forum become.
TC off increases a stock C6's 35+mph performance?
So are you saying that now with it disabled you were spinning from 35mph and up? And this somehow increases the forward momentum?

That's not how it works. If it detects loss of traction (ABS sensors can tell if the back wheels are turning faster than the front wheels), THEN it reduces power to the rear wheels. I believe that it reduces the throttle angle to achieve that, but it may retard timing as well.
