I have had dead battery issues, which are annoying in the winter because the keyhole in the trunk tends to freeze. There's also been various rattles and squeaks, the dealer says they can fix most of it by realigning the doors. Other than that, I have an engine tick that seems to have gotten louder over time, which according to this forum is normal, but I'm going to have the dealer check it out. 1600 miles and I love the car itself, not the problems.

We'll see how she holds up.

Generally speaking, compared to the AVERAGE car, the C6 has:

-Very low ground clearance - exercise caution or you'll rip the bottom out of the car - stay clear of deep puddles, snow, etc

-Very expensive tires that do not last too long, tire pressure monitors and no spare tire - dealing with rubber in general is more expensive and more of a headache than you may be used to, but it's tolerable

Other than the two above issues, the C6 in general is an absolutely excellent all-purpose vehicle - gets great mpg, very user-friendly, extremely comfortable... and most importantly, incredible handling and tons of power / throttle response. The pluses far outweight the minuses. It's an outstanding car and well worth every penny.

Numbers 1, 2, and 3 can become obsessions! But here's a problem I hope you don't run into. Dec 05 picked up my 06, DSOM, coupe, 6 speed. Then really checked into the forum quite often. There were so many great comments about the vert, A6 and NCM delivery that I'm picking up my 07, MSM, A6, vert 21 February in Bowling Green. I really have to pay closer attention in the future so I'm not persuaded to order another one. You'll love it, honestly!!!

Hehe, thanks for the replies

I said "might" because i know every car is different and some people are very detail oriented, which can lead them to notice stuff that others dont.

I was intereseted in the battery issue from 2005, the dealer said that the car had to be parked and then set in reverse so the battery would not go dead. I wonder if this is an issue with people who drive their vetts once a week and not an issue for people who drive theirs daily. I am going to be more of a daily driver.

I was worried about the ground clearance, at a few vett shows, i have seen some serious damage done by parking barriers in spaces.

I was going to ask about support, but from what i have read on the forums, it appears to be dealer specific, so i wont go there

What year do you intend to purchase? I bought the new 07 which apparently doesn't have the dead battery syndrome (at least in the Z51 manual version) and also doesn't have the roof delamination problem which I believe changed in manufacturing in August of 06 production. The new model also has a power train warranty of 5 years 100,000 miles as part of the purchase in case you do have problems. The coupe is prone to certain squeaks and rattles in the pins or securing areas for the removable tops. There are threads on this and fixes. The car is more of a GT than a pure sports car, but it still rides low, so angles are preferred for steeper driveways, speed bumps, and so on.

Unlike the Z06 version which is undergoing reports of spun bearings under load at race tracks (oiling problem possibly?) the C6 LS2 engine does not appear to be reported as having any common problems.

Electrical gremlins appear from time to time in different cars, but mostly go away on cycled re-starts.

I've had mine since October, and had a few electrical gremlins in the beginning, but nothing to report now. This is my third Corvette since 1998, and the C5 and C6 series each has a few anomolies but are overall well built cars.

Problems so far:

Chapped hands from washing too much.
Sore eyes from staring.
Mods budget
Head turns from other drivers
Arguments with wife with who gets to drive.
Attitude of kids why can't I drive.
Rain

No problems at all so far

Amen to that. I spend all day at work on the forum in withdrawl from my C6. Any time the roads are dry I want to take it anywhere.

Thats no joke. My girlfriend thinks I'm seriously obsessed with my car. Its in storage so I am in major withdrawal. If I'm not on the forum, I'm playing Need for Speed on PS3, driving a yellow ZO6 and smokin' others players online.
I am a car guy and always have been, but after I got my first (and current) Vette, it did go up a notch.

Girlfriend just doesn't get it, she thinks the wave is dumb too, but until someone owns their own vette, I don't think they will understand.

Besides, we always love the things that don't talk back to us the most!

Watch out for the concrete stops. Just stop way short of them. Ground clearance---------There are certain roads I avoid. Stay away from construction areas or road work. Get used to the front air dam scraping(great noise). Mine does it every time I go in and out of my driveway.
Worst part about having the vette is always having a ****-eating grin on my face and my girlfriend thinking I'm up to something.
